They sat at the only table in the lighthouse in dead silence each simply enjoying the presence of the other. Orion took a sip from the best teacup Ricky had ever had. The lighthouse had stood there for longer than anyone could remember.

Ricky had watched over it and kept it neat and tidy for over 30 years. He had always had time to sweep and mop due to the fact that ships rarely had need of the lighthouse.

The lighthouse was and had always been pretty much useless. Any ship that travelled across the waters in the dead of the night had no need for the lighthouse seeing as the parts it illuminated were devoid of rocks.

People often wondered why their ancestors would do such a thing, maybe back in those days there were ship wrecks or other things which affected the safe passage of ships or maybe it was just sheer stupidity. Ricky nevertheless had devoted his entire life to the lighthouse just as his father had.

Orion shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He had always hated the stiff wooden chairs Ricky kept in the lighthouse. Ricky sipped contentedly at his tea.

"So Rick I assume you know why I'm here?" Orion said, breaking the silence.

"I have a feeling I do" Ricky said with a sad smile.
"But I have to say no, I am no giving that bastard a damn thing".

"You know if you don't it'll mean the end of you right?".

"I know".

"And you still choose not to?".

"Yes, yes I do. He killed my boy Orion, so you of all people has got to understand why I can't".

"I do, trust me I do. But I still gotta do what I gotta do".

"*sighs* you know my father died in this very lighthouse".

"Did he now?" Orion says as he picks up his spoon and begins to stir his tea.

"Yes he died while writing a letter to me right on this table. He was a great man".

"And so are you Rick, so are you". In one swift movement he lunges across the table and thrusts the spoon into Rickys neck right above his Adams apple. A look of surprise dominates Rickys face but is quickly replaced by a look of pain.

Rickys blood sprays all over the table and all over Orion. Orion let's Rickys now limp body fall to the ground. He goes to the very top of the lighthouse where the lighthouse is located and puts it on.

At least the lighthouse would illuminate the night sky for one last time. Orion then searches the lighthouse for any thing useful.

Seeing that everything he managed to find wouldn't fit into his backpack he decided to discard some unnecessary items, which included his sons baby blanket. Before tossing the blanket he took one last long look at it.

It had begun raining and the rain brought along with it dark gloomy clouds. Orion decided it would be wiser to spend the night in the lighthouse than to go out and risk death.

Not feeling comfortable with his old friends lifeless corpse watching him in the corner he decided to move it. He dragged the body into Rickys living area and laid it on the bed. He then walked back over to the table where he had been drinking with Ricky just a half hour ago.

Looking over at his surroundings orion began to wonder what his life had become. Less than a year ago he had been designing logos for companies, now look at him, killing for a living. He finished his tea in one gulp, it was already cold.

He sat, thinking, pondering and it wasn't long before he feel into a sea of lethargy and slept off. Orion woke up laying next to Rickys dead body.
