The sun sent dancing rays through the water's surface, causing the reef's shadows to move and sway. The day was beautiful but despite the nice weather not everyone was smiling. In a hidden base far off the coast of Crystal Sands the atmosphere was heavy and filled with worry. Tavie, the dolphin alpha, swam herself in circles as she paced the room. Another dolphin floated before her, a glass bottle held in his fins.
"This is the second bottle this week ma'am, what should we do?" the porpoise looked up at the purple dolphin with worry filled eyes. The alpha stopped and regarded him with a sigh.
"Call in Marco, this isn't normal trash and we can't discern the contents of the bottles here, tell him to take the bottles to Gilbert. The other Alphas will have better luck finding a lead." With a nod the subordinate left the room. Tavie sunk down into her shell lounge and leaned her head back against the seat. This was a bad omen.
Not long after Marco was swimming into the encampment, the penguin made fast work of securing the bottles and reaching the surface, the sooner he reached Gilbert the better. The sun was setting when he finally finished his trek through the thick jungle. The flags of Gilbert's camp waved gently in the breeze as the penguin waddled his way over the bridge. The young tigers, most volunteers for the Alpha's cause, welcomed the penguin into the camp and lead him to the General's tent.
"Ah! Marco, it's good to see you my friend, it's been so long. What brings you out of your frozen caves?" The tiger rounded the table that sat in the middle of the room, scattered maps and plans covered its surface. His ears perked and he smiled down at his friend, shooing off the soldiers as he welcomed the penguin inside.
"Sadly I have no time for casualties my beastly companion, I bare urgent news from Alpha Tavie." he watched as Gilbert's expression dropped, "These bottles have been washing up all along Crystal Sands, Tavie fears their contents may spell doom for Jamaa." he pulls the bottles from their bag and holds them out to the tiger.
Gilbert looks down and takes the flasks in paw, walking back to the table and brushing aside papers to lay them on its surface. With a claw he pops the corks and pulls out the paper, the letters are moist but shockingly the ink has stayed in tact despite being under the sea for such a long time. He scans the words, becoming more worried by the second as he reads the cryptic messages.
"Guards!" Gilbert looks up as two young soldiers open the flaps of his tent, "Bring Lisa and the others here now, this is extremely urgent!"
