Good Things Come to a Sad End

I had been avoiding Violet. Her last words rang through my head in a violent tornado of anger and saddness. I had also been avoiding my turns with Anouk.

"Onyx slow down." Dakoda placed a hand on the fire stick I held over a bong. I smiled at him in my hazy state. "It's good man let me take the hit." He took the match from my hand. "You need to be right in the head. Stop." He took the pot from me and chucked it out the window. I heard the clay bong shatter.

"Seriously?" I stood stumbling around slightly as I made my way down the steps to the kitchen. "Onyx slow down!" Dakoda was yelling behind me but I sped up and rushed into the kitchen, coliding with Violet face first. "Are you high?" Violet touched my face and I giggled shaking my head. Her face filled with rage and she shoved me back through the front room and up the steps to my room. "Man I can explain." I backed away from her to the furs and flopped down. "You better start then." Her hands found my hair and she jerked my head to look into her eyes. A whimper escaped me and I mentally slapped myself. "It was....a one time thing. I'm trying it to see if it aids in sleep patterns." I smiled up at her. "Grow up Onyx. You don't have the time to get high." She let go of my head and pushed her head to the wall next to the door with her back to me. I crept forward slowly, silently. I slid between her legs and pushed my mouth up to her center. She jumped back and glared at me. "It's time to get things done Onyx." She glared down at me on my hands and knees. "Things will get done. But these things take time." I licked my lips and spoke. "We need to speed this up. Things will get dangerous fast if we dont. Time is running out." Violet spoke. "We have time. Everything is planned out. Don't go against my word." I stood to my full height now and she backed away.
"Are you ordering me around? You don't scare me." Her eyes met mine. "Im not trying to scare you. But you are barging into my teratory. Learn your place." With these words I turned to walk away. Her hands grappled with my sholders and she yanked me to the furs, strapping herself around my hips. "You are so frustrating Onyx. You are a child in an adult position and it's causing you to act out." She lifted her hips. "Getting high isn't the way to do this. It's time to grow up." Violet then stood and left, leaving me alone and feeling stupid.

I lifted my top half, looking at the room and then standing to get dressed for training. I slid on tight shorts and went down in a sports bra to the training room and went over tactics in hand to hand combat with the group. "We will split into groups of two. Everyone will have a partner to fight, and the winner of your group will fight the winner of another until we have a victor. Take these." I handed everyone wooden dowels and paired each person with another. Violet came down the steps with Anouk in arm. Ignoring her I faced Jasper, and bent my knees ready to take his lounge. "Leg power Jasper. You need to work out your legs." I walked around him and poked him in the back with my dowel. He turned to me sweaty. I lounged down, sliding my feet under his and knocking him over. I shoved the dowel into the center of his chest. "Work on the power in your back and legs, focus on your target and yiu won't lose. Switch!" I left Jasper on the floor and moved onto Jay.

It was almost an hour of fighting and I stood square with James. Her fire red hair was matted down to her forehead. The rest of the group was cheering and Audrey had taken residence on the cool floor. We circled each other, never breaking eye contact before she threw the dowel at me and it grazed my cheek, actually cutting into my flesh. The group began pounding their open palms on the ground. "No mercy now James." I stalked up to her, placing the dowel at the inside of her hip and jerking it before she could jump away. The wood bit into her skin and she yelped but smacked the wood from my hand. I wrapped my hand around her throat and slammed her to the ground until she tapped my shoulder, signaling her defeat. The group erupted in howls and laughter. I raised both my hands and turned straight into Violets fist. "What the fuck?" I clutched at my face. Everyone was silent except for the baby in Jaspers arms. "Always expect the unexpected." Her face was smug and it sent rage through me. When she turned I kicked her back, knocking her over and three feet forward. I stretched out over her yanking her ear to my mouth by her hair. "Never turn your back on an opponent." I pushed her face into the ground. I rushed up the steps to the dog pens, where I fed my dogs and sat. The dogs ate with a speed I had only seen in starving people. Everyone walked past me on their way to bathe in the lake, giving me high fives, except for Violet who  looked livid. I stood quickly doing a tail spin and walked to my room and collecting clothes and rough soap and nd joining everyone in the near by lake. The moon hung heavy in the sky, lighting up the clear water. I stripped down naked and jumped into the cool waters, washing away sweat and grime. I swam for hours after everyone had left, letting my thoughts consume me.
