I have been through a lot of relationships and most of them tend to be long distance. I have been through a lot of break ups too because the people I date just can’t handle not seeing me and still date me for a long period of time. I understand why, I feel the exact same way.
I was in a relationship with a guy that I was starting to really like, but because of work, I ended up having to move out of the state I was living in at the time. I didn’t think that I could handle another long distance relationship, but then, I heard a song at some random concert that my friend made me go to.
It was, of course, full of hardcore bands. I don’t really like screamo that much, so I was annoyed at her and bored for most of the concert. Then, the band that she claimed that I would love came on, A Day to Remember. I’ll admit that I didn’t really like most of the songs they played; they were too hard for me, even though she claimed that they were halfway pop punk. I am not even a fan of pop punk. I am a fan of indie.
Then, half the band members left the stage and they started playing an acoustic song, If It Means a Lot to You, then I started liking them. It describes my relationships so well, with all the trouble of dealing with not seeing the other person. But, the ending made me believe that my boyfriend and I might actually survive my move.
That concert made me realize that there can be good songs in genres of music you might not like.
That song made me realize that sometimes long distance relationships can work.
It was all because of my idiotic friend.
Why didn’t she show me the song on YouTube?
I will admit that it’s a good song.
It even changed the way I view long distance relationships.
