Chapter 1 - What's your name, please?

Where was the whole in the ground in which I could just disappear? My legs were shaking, my heart was racing. There was only one girl left, then it was my turn. And I would stand in front of him - Nicky. Yes, I was at a signing of Westlife. They had just released their album 'Face To Face' that I was holding in my hands which were trembling terribly. So I was the next in the row. And then Nicky looked at me, his blue eyes sparkling. And there was no sign that he recognized me! I went red and opened my mouth to say something. Hello. He said with his charming voice. Hey... I said shy. What was I thinking? Of course he didn't remembered me. Why should he, the big popstar, remember me, the girl next door? The girl he has grown up with and with who he has been madly in love with during highschool. The girl he left for the fame after more than seven years six years ago. The girl who has been heartbroken after that. Tears watered my eyes, there hasn't been a day I haven't thought of him. And he wasn't even remembering me.

What's your name? He asked taking my CD out of my hands. Maria. I answered. I looked at his perfect face while he wrote his name in the booklet. Then he took one of the paperbags that had  several promo stuff in it. Do you want to take a photo with me? He asked and was charming as ever. Yes please. I replied trying to fight my tears down. So he laid his arm around my shoulders and we took a selfie with my camera. I even managed to smile though I felt like burrying myself in a deep whole and crying my eyes out. He checked the result on the camera. Perfect. He said handing it and the bag to me. Thank you. I said, biting my lip. He had forgotten me. My heart broke in thousand pieces again. Bye Nico. I said quietly and went to the other band members who were very polite and funny. Shane looked at me when I stood in front of him, looked at Nicky and just shook his head.

I went to the exit and looked into my booklet. I saw the page with his face and my heart stopped. "For my little Sweety, Nico x" stood there in his handwriting. I looked at him in shock and he laughed and blinked at me. He made a sign that I should look into the bag. There I found a AAA pass with his name on it. I looked at him with disbelief but he just smiled at me. Then I found a piece of paper. "Sweety, how could I forget you? Would you mind waiting for me? Just pass the security and come to the VIP area. Nico x" I smiled and went to the security and showed them Nickys AAA pass. From where do you have that? The guy asked me, staring at me. Nico... ehm... Nicky Byrne gave it to me. I said. He wanted to meet me. He looked at me in disbelief and dialed a number. John here. He said into his headset. Here is a girl with Nicky Byrnes pass saying he gave it to her. He waited for the answer. Then he turned to me. Wait here, they'll check your story. - Okay. I smiled at him weakly. My heart was racing again. Okay, I'll let her pass. He said and smiled at me. You were right. He said. Sorry, but I had to check, you know. You can't imagine what kind of stories I hear everyday. I just smiled at him. Thanks anyway. I said and passed.

And then I found myself in the VIP area, waiting for Nicky. If my heart raced before, it now wanted to break all the records. And then the door opened and the lads came in.
