Weeeeeelll it's Rin's Birthday today so I thought I would type this up to celebrate. Lol I have donuts to celebrate in real life too. For those who are reading this late, Rin's birthday is on December 27 and if you were to count the years since the anime was released, he would be 18 in 2013. Aaaaand I posted this at exactly 12:00 am....jk it's 12:02
------------------------------------------------

So tomorrow was your best friend's birthday. His name was Rin Okumura. You've known him ever since he came to True Cross Academy. You sat next to him in all of your classes. Even in cram school, though the two of you already graduated. The both of you were now 18 and your relationship hasn't progressed any further than best friends. Well, Rin just turned 18. You were a few months older than him. You've already prepared everything from the surprise party to the decorations and food arrangements, but you were still pondering about what to get him as a gift. To tell the truth, you've had a crush on him ever since you met him. The two of you were practically neighbors. You were neighbors. The apartments you and Rin rented were right next to each other. Yukio still lived with Rin but he didn't interfere with any further progress with your relationship with Rin.

You sat on your bed wearing a lime green tank top, and teal skirt. Your navy hoodie was messily tied around your waist. You leaned back onto the headboard of your bed, thinking about something that Rin would absolutely love. The surprise party was tomorrow evening so you had to think of something quick. Would he like some of your homemade sukiyaki? You knew that was his favorite food. Nah. He could always make that himself since he was the best chef you've ever met. Plus, you sucked at cooking. Sighing in defeat, you stood up and walked to the living room. There was still some unpacking you had to do. It had only been a few weeks since you and Rin had moved here. The only boxes left were filled with books. You popped a mystery flavored lollipop into your mouth and threw the wrapper somewhere on the floor.

The lollipop was light blue. It was obviously cotton candy flavored, but the color made you think about Rin. You were really surprised when you first saw the blue flames surrounding the person most important to you, but he was willing to look past your flaws, so you looked past his, too. You dropped the first batch of books you were supposed to put away. They were old photo albums. You picked one up and sat on your couch. You giggled silently as you looked at the pictures of you and Rin. You saw a picture of the time Rin dropped his ice cream on himself. Then there was a picture of Rin smashing your ice cream on your face. Then it turned into an all out ice cream war.

That was it! If you were having so much fun looking back at these memories, then Rin would too, right? You were going to make him a scrapbook of all of the fun times you've shared with him. Rin always forgot to take pictures because he would always forget to brg a camara and to tease him, you never gave him copies of your pictures, but today was his birthday. You placed the album on your coffee table and hear out to an arts and crafts store that was nearby. You bought a scrap book and a bunch of other necessary supplies. If it was for Rin, you were willing to spend millions. You made copies of the best memories you shared with Rin. After hours of perfecting your gift, you had finally finished. It was already 11:04 p.m. At least you finished before midnight.

Without bothering to clean up the mess you made in the living room, you hopped into bed thinking about Rin. The cleaning could be done later. Right now, all you could think about was if Rin would like your present or not. And so, you fell asleep an hour later since you couldn't stop thinking about it. Morning soon came, and it was now 10 am. Today was the day. It was his birthday....and Yukio's. You planned on giving Yukio money so his present was easy. When it was time for the party, you left for Rin's apartment. As usual, you were the first person there. You wore a short, electric blue dress. It was just a plain dress; nothing special, yet Rin still told you,"You look amazing." You turned your head away to avoid his gaze. You covered your face with your hand so he wouldn't see you blush, even though it was obvious that you were. Your hair was curled at the ends and you wore simple sky blue flats.

All of the guests arrived not too long after you. Izumo, Shiemi,Ryuji, Shima, and Konekomura were there to celebrate, too. It was great to see them and all but you couldn't really enjoy the party. You see, when you presented your gift to Rin, he didn't exactly jump, for joy at it. You could tell he liked it, but not as much as you wanted him too. It was as if he'd expected something else. He pretended he absolutely adored your present, but you could see through all of his lies. You waited for everyone to go home before confronting Rin. "You don't like it, do you," you muttered to him. Yukio took your words as a sign to leave the two of you alone. "What are you talking about, ________?" Rin asked.

"It's obvious you don't like what I gave you for your birthday."

"Of course I love it!"

"But it seems like you wanted something else." Yup. You saw right through his lying face. His oh so cute face. His shocked expression confirmed it for you. He didn't want the gift.

"Huh?! Um...the gift you gave me was fine!"

"I'll try my best to give you the perfect gift ever, so if you just tell me what you would like, I'll get it for you."

Rin hesitated for a while. "If I tell you...if you don't get mad at me."

"Why would I get mad at you?"

"N-never mind. I won't tell you after all." Was he...blushing!?

"If you don't tell me I can't get it for you."

"Ahh who cares anymore," he muttered as he leaned down towards you and smashed his lips on yours. You were clearly in shock and didn't have enough time to react before he pulled away. Your face was beet red. He had a sad look on his face. "You don't like me back do you..." he muttered. In return, you grabbed his collar and pulled him down to your level, planting a kiss on his mouth. His hands automatically wrapped around your waist while yours went around his neck. You wanted time to stop right at that moment. Unfortunately, you had to pull back for air. You only backed away slightly. Your lips were still in contact with his. "I love you," he whispered against your lips. Everything was absolutely perfect, until Yukio had to ruin it. "My my. Did I interrupt something?" Yukio asked sarcastically. Both you and Rin jumped away from each other with flushed faces. "Why?! Why Yukio?! You just had to walk in at the worst time possible!" Rin complained.

You giggled at Rin's little tantrum. He was such a kid sometimes. "I might as well leave for today. Bye guys," you said, unable to keep your big smile hidden. You walked towards the door to leave. You suddenly remembered something you forgot to do the moment your fingers wrapped around the door knob. "Rin?" you muttered.

"Is something wrong?" he asked

"I love you, too."
