My life has become a living hell. The only friend I have at this point is Abigail, and I know it's hard for her. I hear people giving her crap in the hallways for associationg with the schools "biggest whore". Tony doesn't talk to me in math anymore and he purposefully goes a different way to
stats so he doesn't have to see me. And every time I see Jake in the hallways, he's with a new girl almost everyday. He gives me a look everyday too, but I honestly have no idea what he means. He tells half the school he's protecting me one minute and the next he's banging a new girl in the janitors closet or behind the bleachers after a football game. Tyler doesn't talk to me either, he won't even give me a ride to school anymore. But at least he has the decency to leave my mother out of the loop. The bell final signals me a freedom from the stares and whispers in my fourth period Algebra class. But then i remember: I have lunch. Ever since the incident two weeks ago, I've found exscuses to skip lunch by reviewing with my teachers or making up a test. There is literally no possible thing for me to do during lunch. As long as I stay with Abigail, everything should be okay.
But boy was I wrong. As soon as I step foot into the cafeteria, all conversations come to a halt. Instead, all eyes are on me. I find Abigail's table and sit next to her and pull out my lunch. Slowly, the cafeteria becomes loud again but honestly, I think it's just because they're afraid of Abby yelling at them again.
"Hey guys! My name is Hanna Clark, senior class president!" she beams into the microphone at the front of the cafeteria. "Okay, so first things first, remember seniors our farewell dance is next Saturday night and it's a majestic masquerade!" The cafeteria fills with groans and a few cheers. "Exciting I know! Also remember that finals are in three weeks so be prepared to get an amazing A!" She pauses and waits for a reaction from the crowd, but doesn't get one. "Okay, does anyone have any further announcements they would like to share?" A few hands pop up. "How about you, Kennadee?"
Kennadee bolts up to the stage and takes the microphone from Hanna. "I'm Kennadee, a senior. So these past couple weeks have been eventful, am I right? People have fallen in the hallway and cheated on their boyfriends, but let's talk about my favorite incident. I call it 'A Lousey Alexis.'" The whole cafeteria bursts into laughter. I look around, and see Tony laughing, Jake laughing, and Tyler laughing. "I mean, what a poor poor girl. Has a make out sesh with one of the hottest guys in school...but in a classroom?" More laughter. More pain. More tears. "But I mean, we've all made out with people before right? But were we dumb enough to leave what we've taken off at the scence?" The laughter seems a million times louder this time. I run up to the front of the cafeteria and snag the microphone from her hand.
"That's such a great point Ken, but were we as dumb as you to leave a positive pregnancy test in the school bathroom?" The cafeteria is dead silent.
"You bitch," she whispers before she knocks me to the ground. We are rolling on the ground, both trying to get in a few good injuries on the other person. It doesn't last long though, because someone has picked me up even though I continue with my punches. I squirm to get out of his grasp, but I can't. He carries me out of the cafeteria, and takes me to a janitor closet. I knew exactly who it was.
"Let me out."
He leans up against the door and shakes his head. "Lexi, you need to calm down."
"No one calls me Lexi, so I don't know why you think you can."
"Just please calm down."
"You fucking laughed. In the cafeteria. You laughed at me."
"What was I supposed to do Andrews?"
"I don't know Jake! God forbid you would have a heart and stick up for me!"
He grabs my forearms and pulls me to him. "You have no idea how hard this has been for me," he whispers.
Tears stream down my cheeks. "I don't think you have an idea."
He wipes the tears away with his thumb. "I'm so sorry Lexi."
I close my eyes at this. I put my hand on his, wanting to forgive him. "It's too late for that."
I push past him and open the door. "Andrews wait!" I slam the door behind me and run out the front doors of the school.
Will this ever end?
