Oh you got this far! Thank you so much for reading! Sorry for such short chapters, remember that this is a work in progress! Please favorite my book, i'd love to get it noticed.Or maybe not...I heard the window shatter as a teenager busted through it and ran towards me. He grabbed my arm and said "You need to come with me, now!" I slapped his hand off and I felt like I was smaller than a mouse. "Please! Just follow me! I don't have much time.." he said as he kept looking back. I thought about this for a minute. Maybe he's taking me to freedom. I smiled at the thought of that and nodded "Let's go." I said. And he took my arm as we ran through the hallways. It had that familiar smell of metallic and eventually we reached a dead end where he broke open ANOTHER window. "You sure like to break things..." I mumbled. He unraveled a rope from his side and tied it to a vault's door handle. He threw the rope out of the window and directed me to climb. I looked out the the window and down to the ground. We must have been around 5 stories up. I grabbed onto the rope for dear life and started climbing down, he was above me and he nearly jumped out the window and flew down grabbing onto the rope below me.
The impact he had sent to the rope when jumping on had flung it around, I ended up slamming my lips against the brick wall. Blood trickled down my deep pink lips and my delicate chin as I kept climbing. We eventually got down and we bolted away into the forest. We eventually made it to a opening but we still were surrounded by trees. This wasn't freedom..I wanted to actually go home! See civilization again! A few miles away I could hear sirens blaring and I could see lights flashing widely. "What in the world MADE you think this was a good idea!" he looked at me confused. "We're out here stranded and lost!" I yelled. He did a sassy little pose, putting his hands on his hips and cocking his head forward. "I know exactly where we are." he said. I rolled my eyes and looked around sitting down on a tree stump. He walked over to me a pulled me up "Just let me.." He said before I cut him off pushing him away. I raised my hand up to slap him and he recoiled in fear holding up his hands. "WAIT! I can explain!" I froze, lowering my hand. "You were stolen when you were young, your real name is Anneliese Permian." I swung my hand to the side "And WHY do you think I'm gonna believe you? AFTER you STOLE me away from me home!" He looked up at me "That wasn't your home AT ALL." He said putting his hands on my shoulders and sitting me back down. "Look...My name is Zach Narid." He said calmly. I turned my head to the side ignoring him. "You seriously think i'm gonna believe a stranger." he gave me a blank yet annoyed look. "This is gonna be harder than I thought..." I glared at him, my hatred for him burning within like a fire. I felt like I was picking a fight with someone way bigger than me but I didn't care. "At least we're here.." He said standing up and walking towards the north side of the opening. He was right though, There's something horrible among this forest. Something that's goal is to kill me, shoot me down, do whatever.
I didn't know how long ago the sirens and lights stopped because I Just now noticed. The woods were silent all I could stare at was the rural night sky. It was full of stars. I missed stargazing, I forgot how beautiful the sky was. How it would just light up at night and yet I felt lonely. I mean I had company from Zack but something still felt off about this whole situation. I tossed to my side, I don't think I was gonna sleep tonight. I don't even know Zack that well but yet he's still appealing to me. Maybe it's the thrill I got when we were swept out of that insane place. "Hey.." I heard Zack say to me. I rolled over to look at him. "I know this is all so new and sudden but I promise I'm gonna protect you. But...You've gotta promise me one thing." He said looking up. I looked at him and tilted my head in confusion. "What?" I questioned him. "Promise me you'll stay with me at all times and never leave my side.." It was a weird question in my opinion but I said I would so I guess I'll wear it as a badge of honor.
I woke first thing in the morning, the sun was barely rising. The sky was filled with gray clouds and it looked like it was about to rain. I looked around, I didn't see Zach anywhere. "Zach?" I called out. I soon heard a rustle behind me and zach bustled out from the trees. "Yeah?" he asked. "What...are you doing?" I said confused. I stood up and looked at him. "Oh uh," He turned around and picked up a basket from behind him and held it up. "Just getting breakfast!" He said in a delightful manner. He had collect berries and carrots in a small basket and brought them over to me. I had never ate berries before but the carrots i've ate were nasty and soggy. I sat down and waited for him to come over to me. Eventually he did and he sat done right in front of me, the basket in between us. He began eating a few reddish looking berries and I picked one up, I nervously took a small bite and the flavor was amazing! It was ripe and sweet but yet it was sour. I picked up some more and shoved them into my mouth. Zach snickered at me and the reaction I had to this new taste. I crossed my arms and kept eating. Soon enough I felt drops of water hit me and I looked up in the sky. It began to pour down and me Zach picked up the basket and ran under a tree
We huddled together under a tree to avoid the freezing rain, I looked at him and he smiled. The sky was dark and grey, I had never realized how much darker it was once the clouds had covered up the sky. It was freezing cold and the shorts and wrap I was wearing didn't help at all. Zach felt bad that I was cold and I soon felt a warm jacket fall onto my back, I looked over and Zach gave me a small smile. I put the jacket on and waited for the rain to pass. While we were under the tree we talked about where we were going and what we were doing. Apparently we were going deeper into the forest. Zach explained that he lived here and this is his home. As the rain cleared we began to walk, there was a steep rugged drop where we were heading Zach explained as we walked. The sun came out again and I began to dry, I shook my tail and my head to get the water out of what little feathers had been growing onto me.
As we reached the cliff I looked down into the bottom, it was a long drop and the bridge had fallen."Damn it!" He shouted as he looked into the water at the bottom. "How are we gonna get across?" I questioned if we were even gonna be able to.He looked around to find something or anything around him that we could get across with. "Aha!" he said as he tugged on a vine "This should do the...Trick!" He said tugging it once more to see if it was tight enough. "Grab ahold of my waist." He said pointing. I slowly wrapped my arms around him and looked up at him, he was looking at the ground and the drop that was ahead of us. "Alright...Just hold on tight!" He began to run and I closed my eyes, this stuff only worked in movies. I clung on as we nearly made it across but we were swung back and pretty far away from the other side. I looked down and gave a scared whimper. "Whatever you do, don't let go!" he said kicking his legs forward to give us a boost. We swung forward as he jumped off and grabbed ahold of the bridge in front us. We swung back and forth as I shifted over to his back and he began to climb up.
He helped me up onto the other side as I scampered up and layed down on the other side of the cliff. "HOW DID WE SURVIVE THAT!?" I said panting on the ground. He raised his fists up in the air and yelled "WOO HOO I DID IT!!" He did a little dance and laughed. I chuckled at him and sat up as he looked around. We stood up and began walking again as we reached another stop, it was a pretty opening, blooming with flowers. I jumped onto his back and gave him a hug. "Let's stay here!" I said getting down off of him. I think i'm really starting to like him, I really like all the places he's been taking me. I'm no longer afraid.
She examined the ground, there were footprints of what seemed to be a human like creature and a man running towards the end of a cliff. She opened her notebook and wrote down the shoe size and other things like that. "I know where they went." She said and pushed her glasses up and fixed her lab coat. A man around 6''5 looked at the woman and mumbled "Good." His dark gaze was almost predatory. They picked up their gear and started walking back twoards the lab. "I'll find her and when I do I'll kill her. She is a danger to our world."
