~Preface~

Here is how a fairy tale style, perfect happy ending love story goes.

Girl falls for:

    A.) Bad guy.

    B.) Best friend.

C.) Vampire or some other mythical creature.

Then they go through all the trials of love, like the bad guy being a jerk; the best friend being clueless/liking some other girl; and the vampire wanting to murder her.

But in the end, the girl gets the guy and they live happily ever after.

The end.

In real life, it's not that simple.

First off, the bad guy will probably stay bad and won't fall in love with you; the best friend may 'love' you back, but after the break up you don't stay best friends; and vampires aren't real. Or, if you are willing to contradict me on that, the vampire kills her.

Love in real life is not like that.

Sometimes you think what you have with him is love, but in reality it is infatuation. You'll see that wavy hair, you'll see those piercing eyes, you'll see the buff muscles beneath his shirt, and you'll swoon.

But in the end it's all the same.

Heartbreak.

Betrayal.

The feeling that you're nothing.

That you're not important.

That you are simply an ant on this huge Earth, waiting to get stepped on...

I had all those feelings when my heart was broken.

But it was ten million times worse than how any story or movie will convey it.

Each second of every day was like torture; his face coming into my mind and ripping my heart apart again and again.

I would hear his laugh as I crumpled to the ground, see his smirk in my mind as the hot tears poured out of my eyes.

My parents had no idea what to do. I wouldn't eat, I wouldn't move...

I was simply dead.

Not literally. My body was still functioning, but inside, my soul... My heart...

Murdered.

By love.
