Ah, the universe. Dust clouds swirling around with more than billions of stars twinkling on, what-seemed-to-be, nonexistence. Peculiar planetary objects dancing pompously around, beholding the beauty of their glory. A vast space of oddities and sorts, filled with realms and uncharted cosmoses that stretch throughout the darkness of the void. Some flow fast with the gushing torrent of time, while others stand still as a water in a pond.

Somewhere in this infinitesimal singularity, in a timeline that stretches parallel from yours, I am by many names. People looked to me as something that's far beyond the realms of their world, an anomaly of nature forged against the collective darkness of the populace – an incomprehensible, chaotic darkness nothing and no one can contain. But in truth, I am the guardian to maintain the equilibrium between the Light and the Dark.

There came a time when they almost worshiped me due to my divine abilities. But only few people know that, once upon a time, I was one of them. And now, I consider myself an entirely different being. My existence is a blessing and a curse, both to myself and the other realms. They awakened me from my long-deep slumber. They summoned me in the hopes that I could help them. But this time, they were wrong.

I am Madrigal.

June 2012

On one early morning of June, an elderly man was walking on a dimly lit hallway of a rather large, diversified building. He was wearing his typical black suit with his unusual neck tie, the one that's printed with silhouettes of different animals. Many people have asked about this, to which he only replied: "They are what I stand for." On first look, the lines on his eyes and forehead may tell you that he is just a regular person raddled with age. But this man has faced many challenges in his life, ones that you would never ever imagine for the likes of him.

His black leather shoes tapped against the ground, echoing eerily, as he neared a chromatic door with a gold-plated sign next to it that says: "Conference Room II". He slid it to reveal a numeric keypad that faintly glowed yellow in the darkness. After typing in the right sequence, a low rumbling came from the door as it opened.

Even though it's been a long time since he last saw this room, he merely walked inside, smiling, as if someone was expecting him. The feeling of contentment favored him seeing that it was like he never left. His favorite coffee mug, which is a gift from a friend, stood tall on his desk in the middle of the room. Mistress Adam's desk were filled with clutter and balled-up papers. And even Master Ethgen's books, the ones the Professor gave himself, were neatly stacked on his desk.

He walked towards in the centerpiece of the room where there lay a piece of white paper with a message for him. He sat on his chair and some memories came flooding back, but he brushed it away. He had enough time for those kinds of things, it is now time to focus once more on the matters in front of him-so he grabbed the paper and looked at it. He only needed to read it once before feeling a tremendous surge of triumph. The Professor turned his chair and faced the large stained-glass window behind him, where the light of dawn is beginning to shine in the room.

Another era of war has just begun, he thought.

Those that have laid dormant for years and the things that their ancestors failed to do are now set in motion. The gears have begun to turn. They will have to guide Dorothy as she walks along the yellow brick road; accompany Alice as she strolls through Wonderland. It will not be an easy task for the girl, unfortunately. The House itself may have its share of reds on its margins, but it was all for this moment. The Genesis of the Revelations.

He swiveled his chair to face on his table, opened up a drawer, took out documents, and began scanning them one by one. It is now time to prepare their family against the true enemy. Suddenly, the door began to rumble and open. A man, about as tall as he was, entered the room.

Professor Aidas felt his heartbeat falter.
