The park here in Orlando and the park in Philly that I usually go to doesn't really have much difference. Playground, benches, a duck pond, a fish pond, little stalls, carousel, lots of grass.
"I'm gonna go get some ice-cream. Cookie dough?" Mason offered.
"Yeah. Oh, if they don't have cookie dough, I want chocolate. Got it?" I retorted, sipping my blue lemonade. I decided to ditch the straw and just drink it by the lid.
I stopped by the duck pond. There was a mother duck with 4 little ducklings. There was another mama duck, with 2 little ducklings. It's cute how they follow their mom around like that. I sat down, cross-legged on the little bridge above the pond. I took out a bag filled with little pieces of bread and fed the ducks.
"The sign says, 'Do not feed the ducks.'," said a male voice behind me. I whirled round to see a guy,a round 5"7 with light brown hair, a maroon t-shirt and black chinos with red vans.
It's the guy who smiled at me yesterday.
"Everyone does it anyways," I said to him, still feeding the lovely little creatures.
Quack, quack
"I detect a rebel," the not-really-a-stranger smiled. I looked away, shook my head, smiling.
"I detect a rule follower. Want some street cred?" I joked.
"I have my fair share of credit from the streets," he told me. "But it won't hurt to gain some more."
"Alright. Feed the ducks."
"Okay. Hey, I still don't know your name!"
Smooth.
"Naomi," I told him, holding out a hand. Hey, if we're gonna live next to each other for 2 months, I'll have to be nice.
"Connor," he said back and shook my hand. His hand is slightly bigger than mine. "You know, I smiled at you yesterday. Remember?" I have a feeling he regretted saying that because he winced about 2 seconds after saying it.
I chuckled and said,"You know, I saw you and your brothers, I think, talking to a camera."
"Yeah, we were making a video," Connor explained. HA! So they are pretty YouTubers. "Hey, so, Jae's your aunt?"
I nodded and said,"My 20 year old brother and I are living there for about 2 months this summer. Aunt Jae insisted, so."
Connor told me that he and Mason are of the same age. And he really is looking forward to meeting him. Which was funny, since he showed up less than a minute later.
"You must be Mason," Connor smiled and stuck out his hand. "I'm Connor."
"Yeah, I'm Mason. Wilde. Mason Wilde," Mason shook Connor's hand. Mason thinks it's cool to introduce himself like that. I rolled my eyes.
"Is this your first time in Orlando?" Connor asked us.
"I spent a weekend here with my friends a few months ago," my brother answered. "And about twice when I was little."
"Yeah, but I was too small to remember what happened," I added in.
