The dusty air filled their nostrils as two individuals woke up with a slight cough and an almost in sync performance of picking up their heads, only to be treated by each other's faces. One was male and one was a female, both around the average height and weight with a similar-looking ethnicity.

"H-hello..." The male responded as he wasn't sure what else to say.

"H-hello..." The female replied back with a small nod, as she did not know what to say as well.

"How are you?" The male asked, which was quite an odd question to announce whenever an individual is in such a mind boggling situation.

"Confused, and you?" The female responded simple.

"Confused as well. Do you know who you are? Because I can't remember who I am..." He stated in a look of slight nervousness for not being able to remember anything.

"No I do not, and I do not know who you are either." She responded, then they both looked down as what looked like a map was laid out in front of them, the map was scribbled with words almost completely. They could not read what any of the words say except for two: "Fall" and "September".

"Well for now, you may call me Fall." The female responded as the word was written in front of her in what seemed like dried blood.

"And I suppose you may call me September." The male stated with a slight shrug and a hint of a smile. The word was also written in what looked like dried blood in front of him.

They both stood up as they observed their surroundings, a small room with walls, floor, and a roof made entirely of concrete. A small couch in the middle of the room faced a painting of what seemed like a child, it was difficult to tell if they were a boy or girl, but nevertheless it was an motionless, smiling, innocent, child. There was a wooden door in the corner of the room that was barely hanging on it's hinges as it swung back and forth. In the other corner, a small table with a record player that remained motionless. Dust fell from September's and Fall's clothing, which were some sort of military uniform. They both started coughing again as the dust in the air swayed from their sudden movements.

Fall moved towards the door opening it to try and get more fresher air, she beckoned for September to follow, who crawled over the couch to get to the other side of the room

The door lead to a small hallway with swaying lights hanging from the ceiling as the dust spreads throughout, giving the two a better chance to breath. The hallway was filled with both their names: Fall, September. There was an absence of the word 'and' between their names so their names were separated, two separate individuals, two separate words, two separate meaning.

They both stared down the hallway, both tilting their heads to the side in thought wondering why their names were written on the walls.

They continued looking through the building as it was almost like a maze slightly, finding more rooms and hallways with their names written all across the walls.

"Hello?" Fall called out as September followed.

"Hello?" September called out, which made Fall turn around to him.

"I think only one person has to say hello..." She said with a slight bit of common sense as she realized September might not have a sense of obviousness.

"Oh ok, my bad." He replied in apology as Fall simply turned back so they could proceed forward.

They reached what looked like a kitchen as they looked around, still saying 'hello' every now and then just in case someone happened to pass by perhaps.

"Fall?" September asked as he turned towards the cooking section where Fall was looking for perhaps food or supplies. September sat cross legged on a table as the room was like a mess hall with tables spread across the room.

"Yes?" She said popping her head from out the kitchen door.

"Do you think we're the only one's here?" He asked as he looked towards a broken clock that remained motionless with both arms on twelve o'clock.

"Depends on how big this facility is." She replied as she opened the ovens and stoves, looking for anything edible, though she sighed shutting the oven door in failure.

"I don't think anyone is..." He replied still staring at the clock.

"How so?" Fall asked as she opened what seemed like furnace, getting her face covered in black powder as she backed up coughing slightly as she shut the contraption closed again, then wiping her face with her uniform.

"I don't know, just a guess..." He said shrugging and a tilt of the head to his shoulder before continuing his staring at a motionless clock, not noticing the black powder that basically swarmed the area behind him as Fall walked out coughing.

"A guess?... Your a very strange individual September..." She said as she coughed once more as September turned to her.

He jumped off the table, and took out a handkerchief from his uniform pocket.

"Here." He said offering it to her as she waved her hands, as her eyes were closed.

"What do you mean 'here'?" She asked still swinging her arms in front her towards September.

He sighed as he grabbed her hand, so she could regain her stability from the temporary loss of sight, then wiped the powder and dust from her eyes as she coughed slightly, then wiping the rest of the powder off her face.

"You seem to be the strange one to me Fall, or maybe we're just strangely different from each other." He said as he wiped the powder onto his own uniform.

Fall coughed again as she shook her head from what could've been congestion. This made September cough as well from both her spewing powder and from seeing her cough.

"Perhaps..." Fall replied as she headed towards the door of the room.

"There's nothing useful here." She stated before walking out without looking back.

"Oh ok, w-wait up!" He said as he jogged out following her, shaking the handkerchief to get the powder out. He honestly didn't know what they were doing, but simply followed Fall since it seemed she knew what to do unlike him.

As they approached a set of stairs that lead to a heavy looking steel door, they looked at each other before slowly approaching it, a small window ornamented  the door as they both approached it, a chill running up their spine that grew with each step. They finally reached the top of the stairs and the simply tiny view of the dusty window horrified them, goosebumps running down their skin as their pupils dilated and their eyes grew wide in horror. Gray, a grayish landscape with a smoky sky that loomed over a charcoal black town in the distance as the wind blew ash across the wasteland of gray.

(And I guess I'll end chapter 1 right there, thank you for reading! I know I need to work on other stories like Tokyo Neon and/or 2nd Lifer, but I was inspired by the living tombstone's song: September. I'm not the biggest expert in romance (and this is my first romance wattpad story) but this idea was just so alluring to me, and so here's chapter one, I hope you enjoyed, and be sure to check out my other stories please!)
