Warren walked down the pathway that lead back to his house through the forest, his hands in his pockets as he stared ahead at the cobblestone path. The wind had picked up earlier, making him regret wearing only a T-Shirt and skinny jeans. He occasionally pushed dark brown locks of hair out of his face, huffing with impatience. Leaves of various colors blew past him as he hurried towards his house.
"I should have told her.." he muttered under his breath, hoping his mom hadn't noticed him leaving. He hadn't asked to leave and he knew if she had noticed, he would be in trouble. Though that wouldn't be something he wasn't familiar with. As he reached the front door, he hesitantly reached for the doorknob.
"Wait..I'll use the back door" he said to himself, quickly hurrying around the house and opening the back door. He winced as the door creaked open slowly, hoping that his mom; if she was there, didn't hear it. But that hope was quickly diminished as he heard his mom's shrill voice yelling from down the hall."WARREN C. HORRACE!" She yelled, quickly hurrying down the hall towards him. He winced from the loud voice, standing there awkwardly as she yelled at him more.
"Where on earth did you go without telling me?!" She shrieked, boiling up with anger at this point. Warren looked up with her, glaring menacingly with his Emerald green eyes.
"Could you lower your voice? You sound like a screaming coyote." He said back in retaliation, watching her eyes widen with fury. She raised her hand and gave him a brisk slap to the face, watching as he stumbled back."Go to your room. And next time, tell me where you're going and do not talk back to me." She growled out. Warren stood up straight and touched his burning cheek. Tears of anger filled the corners of his eyes as he walked down the hall and down the stairs to his bedroom without word. As he entered his room he noticed a familiar looking face sitting on his bed
"Hi Mark.." Warren said quietly, walking over to his bed and sitting beside his demon friend, Mark.
"What's up, Buttercup?" Mark said slyly, jokingly nudging his arm.
"Nothing really. My moms just in one of her moods." He muttered, shrugging a little. Mark cocked an eyebrow, crossing his arms.
"She's always in one her moods, Warren."
Warren chuckled a little, nodding.
"True..But this time i may have actually caused it." Mark frowned, sitting criss crossed on the bed and tilting his head."What happened?" Warren sighed, shrugging uncomfortably.
"I left without telling her because I just wanted to walk without being worried about what she would say when I got home. I really thought she wouldn't notice but she did."
Mark nodded, gesturing for him to continue.
"Well when I got home, I was obviously caught and she started yelling at me...I told her she sounded like a screaming coyote and she slapped me."Mark frowned, examining Warren's cheek.
"Now that I look at it, your face is kind of redder on one side. That bitch.."
Warren laughed, smiling a little as he looked at Mark.
"Haha..Yeah. I'm just glad you're here. You always cheer me up." Mark nodded and wrapped an arm around Warren, pulling him close.
"Anything for my best bro."After a while of talking, Mark stood up, walking over to the closest and looking back at Warren.
"Wanna go to my place for a bit? It's always nice to get away from here when your mom is on a rampage.." Warren chuckled and stood up, nodding as he walked up to Mark.
"Yeah. Plus it's kind of cold here. I need to warm up for a bit."
They both laughed and stepped inside of the closet, walking deeper and deeper into it. The closet seemed almost never ending until they got to a huge black door with antlers for handles. Mark reached into his pocket and pulled out a red key, holding it in his palm as it began to glow. They both looked up as a keyhole appeared in front of them on the door.
"Alright. Disguise me." Warren said triumphantly, spreading his arms out and grinning ear to ear.
"You're a dork, Warren. You know that, right?"
Warren glared at him,
his arms dropping to his sides.
"Yeah yeah..Just hurry up and make me look cool."
Mark rolled his eyes and smirked, snapping his fingers and watching as Warren transformed into a demon version of himself.
"Nice!" He exclaimed, examining his new skin tone and clothes.
"You're a lot more lighter skinned than I would have hoped this time...But hopefully you'll pass for now. I'll fix it once we get to my house." Mark said before unlocking the huge doors and pushing them open. Warren looked around a grinned with eagerness.
"It feels like i haven't been here in ages!" Warren said happily, looking around.
"Did they add more houses? It seems like there's more demon's here than last time as well."
