She ran from the school, leaving small footprints in the freshly fallen snow. Tears stained her cheeks. Notebook paper fluttered around her as she ran. The cold air stung her cheeks. She was never going back to that horrid place.
People to call her name shouting after her to come back. Some even tried to chase her. She ran and faster until her lungs were burning and her legs were numb. Her eyes looked around at where she had run to. The streets around her were filled with emptiness. The sidewalks were cracked and broken. Tall, brick buildings was all she could see. A small siren went off in the distance.
Her lungs were filled with pain from the sudden inability to take a steady breath. Breathing became extremely difficult. Anxiety and panic rose in her chest. Her eyes grew wide and wild as she looked around in fear. Her chest moved quicker. Air wouldn't fi;; her lungs. Her weak body collapsed against the cold, hard ground. Her hands brushed through her hair. Her legs folded up against herself. She rocked back and forth whispering small things for another minute before her breathing turned back to normal.
Silent tears rolled down her cheeks. Hot, wet tears. The cold air mixed with her hot tears caused a tingling feeling in her cheeks. Her scream pierces the air. Her legs slowly leave her torso. Her hands leave the comfort of her hair and go down to the stretched sleeves of her shirt. She slowly lifted up the soft fabric away from her forearm. Cuts scattered her arms. Some almost gone, a ghostly white. Others were newer, a pinker colour with blood still around them. Each one had their own uniqueness to it. The scars went all up and down her arms. Her soft fingertips glided across each and every single one until she lifted her hand up and glided it through the air to her neck. The deep, jagged scar imprinted on her neck from that awful night. She remembered every insult, every reason for each cut and scar...
Bitch
Stupid
Asshole
Slut
Ugly
Worthless...
One last tear rolled down her cheek as a faint whisper escaped her lips,
"Never again."
Her mouth slowly formed a smile. A real smile. Something she hasn't done in years. She got up and began walking before smiling bigger and whispering once more,
"Never again."
