(Blake’s P.O.V.)
I grabbed my purse and slung it around my shoulder quickly, popping a piece of toast into my mouth at the same time.
“I’m leaving!” I said through clenched teeth as I walked towards the door. Juliet was stepping out of the shower, a towel around her dripping body and another holding her hair up in a turban. She gave me an encouraging smile and waved as I stepped halfway into the door.
“Good luck!” Juliet called to me as I made my way into the hall and shut the door behind me. I hiked up my purse again and ran to the lift, pulling at my sleeve and checking the time on my watch. Crap, I was going to be late if I didn’t hurry. Deciding to skip the lift, I took the stairs instead. I had no time to wait for those dumb things to fail on me now, because they always did. I had the worst luck with lifts. Maybe it was because I was actually a little terrified of them. I hated the way everything was so tight packed and cramped in those tiny little spaces, and then sometimes you get that annoying child who likes to bounce and shake the whole thing and just… ugh they’re awful.
Once I was in the hotel lobby, I walked up to the desk and paid the lady for me and Juliet’s room. We had needed to stay in London overnight, and when we pooled our money, we had enough to stay. So we found the cheapest hotel around and booked it for one night. It wasn’t exactly a ‘nice’ place, but after the rough night we had had of not finding any type of work, anywhere to crash and get some sleep had sounded fine. But, like the idiot I am, I overslept, and Juliet had gotten in the shower, and forgot to get me up.
I ran down the London streets again for what seemed like the thousandth time in two days, trying my hardest to find where I was supposed to be going. I had rushed out of the hotel so fast, that I had forgotten to grab a map or something to tell me where I was supposed to be going.
Remembering my smart phone, I fished it out of my pocket and flipped to the GPS app. I jumped up and down impatiently, trying to warm myself up and slow down time all at once. Once I finally saw the little blinking red dot on the screen telling me where to go, I headed off again.
I was so busy looking at my phone, that I didn’t notice him. I ran straight into a man, and I’d like to say I gracefully regained my balance, but I’d be lying if I did. No, the man and I smacked into each other with such force, I was blown off my feet and landed on my bum, hard. The cold bricks of the streets instantly chilled me from head to toe, and my phone went skidding across the frozen ground. I cursed and jumped after it, wrapping my gloved hands around the small device before it got away from me. I sighed in relief, and then remembered what had just happened. God Blake, running into two men in two days? I know I’m clumsy but this is a new low even for me.
I turned around, still sprawled out on the ground, and saw the man I hit. He looked about my age or maybe a little older. He slowly rose from where he had landed on the ground close to me and brushed off his fancy long black coat, muttering something under his breath. I waited for him to notice me and maybe offer me a hand, but he continued to be focused on making sure he looked alright, swiping a hand quickly through his long, curly brown hair. I sighed and tried to stand, slipping only twice before I finally rose to my full height. I was shocked to see that I was nothing compared to the man standing before me. He was tall and had a polished handsome look to him, but I couldn’t see all of his features because of the sunglasses that covered his eyes. He looked over and seemed to notice me for the first time. I felt him scanning me and looking me over before he finally spoke.
“Aren’t you going to apologize?” He asked raising an eyebrow skeptically at me. His voice was deep and husky, and he made no effort in hiding his annoyed tone. It took me a moment to realize what he had said. Wait… what?
