My cancer spread? "My cancer has spread? I was just starting to get better!" I yell and along my cheek a cold tear drop rolls down.
I pull myself up and run my hands over my scalp and it sends me chills. "Yes, you now have cancer at the start of the small intestine, the jejunum to the transverse colon. I'm so sorry Madeline, we are here to support you through treatments and surgeries if you would like it." Dr. Jacobson says.
I look at my mum and dad and I don't know if I am willing to go through more chemo. "Can we have some time to talk over our options Dr. Jacobson? My mum asks as she reaches over to grab my hand.
"Yes, sure. Take all the time you need".
Dr. Jacobson reaches out for my other hand and runs her hand over mine and then turns and leaves down the corridor.
"Let's go down to the lobby and sit outside, its lunch and we are kind of hungry" my dad says grabbing his bag.
I pull myself up out of bed, my mum passes me a black Nike jumper and I pull it over my head. It's so soft and I roll up the sleeves. The cold floor tingles against my feet and my dad drags a pair of fluffy slippers towards my feet. "Thanks" I mumble while slipping my feet into the slippers.
I slowly push my drips alongside me and I use the pole holding them as support. The pole was freezing up against my skin, like when your outside and you put your raw skin on something at the snow, which I haven't done since I was little.
I go outside my lonely hospital room and my mum and dad follow behind me. One of the nurses on the oncology floor runs up behind me. "Madeline, I have your lunch!" she says holding a bag of liquid food.
It disgusting but I have gotten used to it after a while. "What liquid food have you got today for me?" I ask with a squinty look on my face.
"We have got liquefied roast today, with a lovely side of salad. I will just connect it to your drip and then you can continue"
The nurse moves around some of the cords from my many drips and she finds one and connects up my delicious but disgusting looking lunch. "Looks lovely sweetie" my mum says trying to hold down her breakfast.
"Thanks" I say to the nurse as she walks away slowly down the long corridor.
My family keep walking down the corridor of the oncology floor and I feel the roast go through my veins and it tingles like hell. It's kind of gross to be honest but I get this every day. I reach the elevator and my dad pushes the down button. "The café is at the lobby right?" I ask.
My mum points to a sign, It reads 'Bottom Floor- Café, gift shop, exit, car park'. The elevator opens and I walk in first and my mum and dad follow behind me. An older couple, who look like parents run up and quickly get in the elevator. "Do you think he will be ok?" the woman says wiping away her tears with a tissue.
Her husband embraces her and the elevator drops and I can feel my liquid lunch swooshing around my stomach and it feels horrible, as usual. "Mum I feel a bit queasy" I exclaim while clenching my stomach.
"We're nearly on the bottom floor sweetie, just hold on a little longer" she says while my father walks over to grab my hand.
He runs his hand over mine and the elevator finally reaches the lobby floor. The elevator drops to a holt and the floor stops dropping. My family and the other family walk out of the elevator and the lobby smells amazing. It's the one floor of the hospital that doesn't smell of sterilization or nothing. It smells of fresh clean air and it's amazing.
"Let's grab a table" my dad says as we exit the elevator and head to the café.
I haven't been to the café since my scan back in 2015 when I originally found out I had cancer. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Dr. Jacobson was very supportive but straight to the point. My mum and dad where comforting and they said they would get me anything I wanted. At that time I just wanted food, so I headed to the café.
I walk along to the cafeteria having a look around and breathing in the clean air. My dad claims a table and pulls me out a chair. The tables in the café are cheap metal ones, they aren't any good quality but it's the nicest table I have seen since I saw the janitor walk past my room with a table. My drip keeps pumping through my liquefied lunch I see my father in the queue. They don't seem happy, I think they were waiting for good results on my tests, but they got worse. I remember the last time they were happy was when I got to eat liquefied foods for a day.
I see a young girl in the distance. She looks a lot like Gwen with her lovely alabaster skin and her blue eyes. I see a woman and a young guy walk up to her. The woman looks young and the guy looks young-ish and his hair glows just like Lanes. He puts down his tray and his eyes look at me. The guy comes towards me and I realise, I recognise that face anywhere. It's Lane.
Hey, it's me. Another late update once again, whoops. I hope you all somewhat enjoyed this chapter, I wanted to just well make the chapter more interesting but I didn't know how to so I decided let's just see Lane again because why not. Sorry it was kind of boring once again but feedback would be good. I will get to writing more because schools finishing up soon, so hopefully more updates and more writing. YAY.
