Fenris Addenbury knew he was gay from the time he was 9 years old. He didn't remember the day he realized it or how he didn't realize it before, but he remembered the year was 1925. He remembered it was a warm night in late spring.
Fenris was outside in the warm air with his older brother and two of his sisters, as well as a few other children. Those of servants and the children of guests attending the great party their parents had thrown that evening. The house was lit up, the party muffled from where they were outside. Moonlight from the nearly full moon poured over them, lighting everything around them almost as well as if it were daylight.
Fenris half-hid behind his brother, a shy boy in those days who preferred reading and spending his time with his mother inside with her sewing than he did with his brother outside playing rough. The children were all talking, two of the children of some guests who appeared to be twins around his brother's age, were suggesting that they play spin the bottle or truth or dare. The odd sorts of things older children always seemed to want to play but Fenris was more interested in trying to figure out what genders they were.
He had assumed the other kids would have disagreed to playing something so unusual but many of them seemed eager to including his 13 year old brother and the elder of the two sisters present. Fenris decided he would find something else to do rather than play with the other children as his brother had dragged him along to do.
He backed up and turned to go back in the house but he felt someone catch his arm, "Where are you going Fenris?"
He turned back to his brother pouting and huffed. "I don't wanna play Gerry," he whined tugging his arm free, "I wanna go find mom." His brother scowled at him.
"You can't mom and dad said I had to watch you and I don't want to get in trouble. Play with us," his brother's voice was persuasive as well as commanding and as a small weak willed boy it was next to impossible to say no. He shrugged his shoulders and muttered a small fine before he sat next to his brother at the circle that had formed and pouted so it was very clear to all that he was not pleased. He made sure to sit on the grass, he was wearing the brand new white outfit his mother had gotten him and he didn't want it to get dusty. While the rest of the children played truth or dare or something he minded his own business, plucking blades of grass and laying them tidily in a small pile by his leg. Before too long his brother shoved him out of his own world and he made a sound of discontent and glared at him he grumbled "What do you want!"
His brother gestured to the ring of kids as if that covered everything but before he could say anything else one of the twins piped up giddily, "It's your turn," she exclaimed with delight, "Truth or dare!"
Fenris did not understand the premise of this game and even as his brother opened his mouth to explain he blurted out dare.Gerard groaned next to him, "You idiot now you gotta do whatever she dares you to do!" Fenris frowned he didn't like the idea of that
"I take it back I wanna do the other one."
The girl giggled and grinned, "You can't take it back you have to do the dare." Fenris decided he did not like this game as the girl began to stroke her chin dramatically and hmmmming as she thought of some probably unpleasant thing for his to do. Finally after a dull minute or so of 'suspense' she beamed at them, "I got it! You have to kiss him!" she declared proudly. He huffed he didn't understand why it took so long for her to think of a dare like that but he certainly had no intention of doing it.
"That's stupid I don't want to do that," he whined, he could immediately tell that she would have none of it so he continued, "Plus I'm a boy! Boys aren't supposed to kiss boys!"1944-1952 28 years old 8 years with Kai
