1. This won't be the completed version of the book because I'm still working out kinks

Chapter 1

'Twinkle, twinkle little star,

How I wonder what you are.

Up above the world so high, 

Like a diamond in the sky'

I grew up on that song, the song that praises the stars that give my people life. I am an Astra, a race of people that lives on the planet Dara. My name is Divina and I am the crown princess of Dara. My family consists of me, my sisters Venus and Nova, my brother Gemini, and my parents King Horatio and Queen Terra. As you can guess, all our names have to do with something astrological.

But back to the stars and their to their importance; every person on our planet has a guiding star. When a person is born on Dara, a new star appears in the sky, but when a person dies, their star fades until there's no trace of it left. Our guiding stars send us energy through their light, which is why it's always night here. I mean, if we had a sun then that would block out the star's light and that would leave us helpless and weak. We do have one star that takes the place of a sun, it gives our plants energy, controls our weather and tides, etc. 

At the moment I'm sitting in my bedroom looking at my guiding star out of my giant window and petting my mooncat, Lilac. Before you ask, a mooncat is just a cat that can float around in midair and shrink at will. Pretty cool, huh? But that's nothing compared to what I can do; I can fly, move things telepathically, and turn invisible. All the residents of Dara have special abilities, but only members of royal family have more than one. My mother can alter reality and talk to animals, my father can bring people back to life, turn back time and has superhuman strength. My sisters have the joint power of healing, night vision, and telepathy, while my brother can survive underwater and has the power of invulnerability.

We try to use our powers to help others and for the greater good and all that. But sometimes I use mine to prank my siblings and parents. Sometimes I can get away with it, but other times I get grounded; last time I was grounded for a month because I filled my brother's room with fish from the ocean, I even added a whale! Nobody got hurt, just a little wet that's all. But pranking aside, in two weeks I will turn eighteen and be allowed to host my own royal banquet, which is a big deal because the royal banquets are really a time for my family to stay on friendly terms with all the other families from our neighboring planets. I'm confident I can do it, I've been watching mother do it for years. I even have a list of things I'm supposed to do:

Divina's List Of Things To Do For The Banquet

1.  Make sure there are enough plates and bowls for each person

2. Pick the color scheme for this year

3. Make sure the servants clean the entire Palace

4. Learn the Ballroom Dance

5. Send out the invitations

6. Practice my Welcome and Farewell speeches

7. Help the family pick out their outfits for the party

8. Work on my first impressions

9. Sample all the items on the menu

10. Pick out the music for the dances

11. Help out the Palace Decorators

12. Practice wearing my tiara and heels

Wow! That's a lot of things to do! Thank the Great Star that I have two weeks to get all this done, although that now seems like a bit of time. But I can handle this, I just know it.
