16. Saviors And Dead Heroes

We all woke up awhile later and Poison jumped up and started to storm off towards the car. Jet went after him and grabbed his shoulder. "Hey, where are you going Poison?" He asked him. Poison had an agitated look on his face. "I'm going to get Missile Kid back." He said with determination burning in his eyes. Fun walked up to them with a bewildered look. "What? Are you crazy? We can't just run in there half caught. We'll die." He said trying to reason with an enraged Poison. "He's right Poison, we can't just run in there without a plan. That's just reckless." Kobra said walking up to Poison and putting his hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

He moved away from Kobra's grip. "No we don't have time. We have to go now. Last time we waited Venom nearly died! I'm not making that mistake again! I promised her I would protect her! I promised to keep her save!" At this point he was frantic and rage running through his veins. "We all promised her we would keep her save. It's not just you Poison. She's our responsibility too." Fun replied.

They were going at each other and were about to start throwing punches but Kobra and Jet held them back. I had enough of this so I decided to step in. "Hey! Fighting against each other isn't going to get us anywhere. We just need a minute to calm down and think about what we're going to do next. So get your heads out of your ass and let's come up with a plan." I said. I was really pissed. They were acting like children and we needed to do something about this instead of fighting about bullshit.

That seem to calm them down. "Okay what do you suggest we do." Poison asked looking at us. "You said that Kid is special and that bl/ind knows that." I said thinking back to the day that he told me about Missile Kid. "Yeah." He said looking confused. "Well that must mean they would keep her under close observation. Making sure she doesn't try anything. So maybe they have her at their main headquarters." I said, it's the most logical thing to do. "It's what we would have done." Jet said looking impressed at me. Poison had a thoughtful look on his face. "Okay. So we go there, fight our way through and get Missile Kid. Sounds like a good plan." He said nodding his head. "Well better than just running blindly into Battery City." I said. With that they got in the car and I jumped onto my bike and we sped off to Battery City.

As we got closer and closer to the main headquarters, my heart was racing in my chest and I was scared. I had no idea how this would turn out and what would be waiting for us. All I knew was that we were going to bring Missile Kid home. No matter what. We finally got to the building and killed the dracs guarding the entrance and fought our way through them. We found the room they held her in and Poison grabbed her hand. She smiled up at us. "I knew you'd come for me!" She said excitedly, beaming at us. We all smiled back at her. "Let's get you home." Poison said squeezing her hand a little.

We walked out towards the exit and heard the alarms go off. We knew we had to move fast, there wasn't a lot of time. They were coming for us. When we got to the room with our only way out, we got surrounded. Not by dracs, but by the S/C/A/R/E/C/R/O/W Unit. "Oh shit." I whispered. All hell broke loose. Ray beams were flying all over the room. We were shooting at them but their were to many, the more we shot down the more showed up. It's like there was no end to them and that wasn't even the worst. Korse showed up.

I was so caught up in shooting at them that when I looked up I saw Poison pinned to the wall by Korse. He was looking Poison in his eyes with a menacing smirk and his ray gun pointed at his head. Then he pulled the trigger and Poison was lying lifeless on the floor. "No!" The scream tore out my throat. I couldn't believe it. He can't be dead. He just can't be. This isn't happening. I kept shooting, even more determined. I saw Fun and Kobra rapidly shooting, just as deterrent as I was. Just before Jet and I ran out of the door with Kid we saw Fun and Kobra get shot down. I felt tears run down my face. Jet pushed Kid over to me and turned around to shoot at them but got shot in the chest. His body falling limp on top of the Trans Am. Then I got pulled into a van only to come face to face with Dr. Death Defying.

We drove away to his hideout and Missile Kid was save. I held her close as she sobbed while tears were streaming down my face and I cried silently.
