The dark-haired, mud covered girl walked solemnly through the village. She watched the people walk around her as though she was an infectious disease. She found the shops to be extremely pretty and she knew that her captors wouldn't dare appear here. She continued through the village and ended up on a path that led up a hill. She walked up it and came to a gate, which was closed and she couldn't open it. So, she did the only thing she knew how to do, she climbed over it. She continued to walk up the path and ended up on the grounds of a large, castle-like building. She gasped and stopped to look at the grandeur of the building. This was the castle the boy who was once a dog had mentioned.
"What are you doing?" A boys voice made her look around wildly until she saw him. His dark hair was neatly combed back and he looked at her as though she was a weed.
"I think I may be lost." She answered.
"Who are you?" He asked. She shrugged.
"No idea, who are you?" Her cheeriness never seemed to dampen.
"Regulus Arcturus Black." The boy answered. She laughed, causing him to scowl at her.
"That's a very stupid name." She told him.
"At least I have a name." He retaliated.
"I do have a name, I just don't know what it is." She said, sitting down on the grass, trying to think what her name might be.
"Are you sure Remus?" The voice of a widened old man appeared from the other side of the door. The door opened and out walked Remus lupin and an old man with a long beard.
" Hello!" She greeted the boy. Remus stopped and looked at her.
"That's her." He told the old man."Mister Black, would you might leaving us to talk to your acquaintance here?" The old man asked.
"She's not my acquaintance." Regulus muttered, but left anyway.
"I am Professor Dumbledore, headmaster of this school. Pleasure to meet you." He extended a hand and she took it, he looked slightly surprised at her bound wrists.
"Hi!" She greeted him and then turned to Remus.
"So do you live here?" She asked him.
"In a manner of speaking." The boy answered.
"Perhaps we'd better take this into my office." Dumbledore suggested. The two nodded and followed him inside.
They made it to his office half an hour later, they had to stop every so often so she could look around.
The first thing Dumbledore did was untie her hands. She grinned and thanked him, rubbing her mud and blood stained wrists."First things first, is there anything you know about yourself?" Dumbledore asked gently. She was eating her way through his supply of sherbet lemons.
"All the others are dead." She said.
"Is that all?" She nodded her answer to his question.
"Professor, maybe she might recognise her captors by their photo." Remus suggested. Dumbledore nodded.
"The daily prophet is on my desk, will you fetch it?" He asked. Remus nodded and walked over to the desk. He picked up the newspaper and passed it to the girl, who looked at it in amazement.
"Do photos normally do that?" She asked as she looked at the moving photo.
"In our world yes." Dumbledore answered.
"Is that where we are now?" She asked. Dumbledore nodded.
"It is." He answered.
She flipped through the newspaper and stopped at a page full of pictures of death eaters.
"Them." She said, pointing at the picture. Dumbledore looked at the pictures and frowned. The pictures were masked."Are you sure?" He asked. She nodded.
"I remember the masks." She answered.
"Do you know if you have any magical ability?" Remus asked. Getting a confused look from the headmaster.
"What? She could be a squib!" He said.
"Excuse me! I most certainly am not a squid!" The girl yelled indignantly.
"No, a squib, born into a magical family, but with no magical ability." Remus explained. She nodded and flipped to the next page of the newspaper.
'60 years on and still no sign!' Read the title. She looked at the picture and frowned.
"That's the others." She said, pointing at the picture.
"The Ellison family went missing 60 years ago." Remus said. No one could remember the family properly, but Dumbledore seemed sure she wasn't one of them, so why had she been there?
"So, I guess I should just go then." She turned to leave, but Remus stopped her.
"We can't just let her leave!" He exclaimed. Dumbledore looked at the girl, and nodded.
"You're right mister Lupin, I think she'll be a valuable asset to our school." he said, looking at the girl thoughtfully.
"I'd better call Madame Pomfrey." He added.Whilst the girl was being throughly health-checked, Madame Pomfrey and Dumbledore talked about what to do with the girl.
"We could contact the ministry and get them to find her a guardian." The nurse suggested. The headmaster shook his head.
"No, I'll look after her." He said.
"Are you sure headmaster?" The nurse asked. The man nodded.
"I think I may be able to help her, and indeed she may help me." He said.
"Well, she at least needs a name." The nurse said in a disgruntled manner, as she looked at the terrible state of the girls health.
"I agree, and I do believe I have the perfect name for her." Dumbledore said. The girl looked up, as she finally realised she was being talked about.
"Ariana." Dumbledore said. The girl looked slightly confused and then nodded.
"Is that my name?" She asked.
"It is now, if that's alright with you?" She nodded again.
"Mister Lupin, I do believe breakfast is in an hour, I think you'd better get ready." Dumbledore added. Remus nodded and left the room, as did Madame Pomfrey, who wanted to make sure the boy had fully recovered. He looked at the girl, who was now looking at an advert for Bertie botts every flavour beans in wonder.
"Well well Ariana, looks like we meet again." He muttered to himself. She didn't seem to hear him, but looked up anyway.
"Is this a... School?" She asked. Dumbledore laughed.
"Yes, welcome to Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry Arianna."
