Emily's P.o.V

"What happens if I feel threatened by you and go into one of those protective states? I wouldn't want to hurt you but I might" he said and I kissed him. "Don't worry, I can stop you, or hide" I said and he laughed slightly. "Thanks" he said and we kept walking. 'If only they were options' I thought to myself as Tom grew closer with a demonic expression upon his face. "Tom, please don't hurt me, I'm sorry" I said backing away from him but he kept coming closer and I started to cry. "I didn't mean to upset you. I was angry when I saw you with her. Can you even hear me?" I said seeing Tom's claws extend. "Tom...please" I whimpered as he got ready to jump before someone put their paw behind his right ear. Tom stopped and almost seemed to enjoy what they were doing. I looked and it was the girl from before. "What are you doing to him?!" I demanded as Tom got up. "What... happened?" He asked looking around. "You went into a protective state against me, because I... flipped out at you when I saw you kiss her on the cheek" I said pointing at the girl. "It's not what you think Emily, she's my French cousin. I was saying hello to her" he said and I realised that I had flipped out at Tom for no reason. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't know that she was your cousin" I said and she smiled. "Bonjour, Je m'appelle-" she started but Tom put his paw on her arm. "Emily ne parle pas le français. Vous devez parler anglais" he said and I stood there confused. She nodded and I looked at Tom, trying to signal him that I didn't understand. "My name is Samantha" she said with pauses between each word. "You can call her Sammy for short" Tom said. "Hi Sammy, I'm Emily" I said and she smiled again. "Nice to meet you Emily" she said shaking my paw. "Tom has told me a lot about you" she said and I chuckled. "That's nice, sorry for earlier" I said but she shook her head. "It's okay. You made a common mistake" she said and I smiled. "Glad that's sorted out. Let's get back inside, don't want to miss the party" Tom said and we went back inside.

"Tom, when did Sammy get here?" I said, sitting next to him. "About 3 days ago. She came here because I invited her" he said sipping a beer. "So, how do you feel knowing schools over?" I asked and he looked at me. "I'm sort of happy. Don't have to hear Miss Harris and Mr Old shouting at me" he said and I laughed a little. "Let me have a sip of that" I said and he handed me the bottle. I sipped and it was really bitter but I swallowed and coughed directly after. Tom laughed and patted my back as I handed back his bottle. "You okay?" He asked and I put a thumb up. "That was bitter" I said and he nodded. "First time always tastes really bitter. But you get used to it" he said taking another sip. I sat there trying to get over the taste when the music changed. "I love this song. Come on let's dance" I said grabbing his arm and pulling him but he resisted. I looked back and he looked down. "What's wrong?" I asked and he blushed slightly. "I um, heh. I don't know how to dance" he said and I laughed. "It's fine Tom, just do whatever. No-one will judge you" I said and he smiled a bit and got up. I jumped a bit with joy and we went to the dance floor and started dancing to the music. Tom wasn't moving much but I don't blame him. The music stopped and every stopped dancing. "Okay, last ones a slow song for all the couples here" the sound guy said. The music turned on and I grabbed Tom, who was trying to get away, and pulled him to the middle of the floor. "Emily please, I don't have any idea what to do" he said but I kissed him. "Just don't worry about it" I said and he wrapped his arms around my waist. I stood on his feet as Tom slowly spun us around. "I love you so much Tom. Never leave me" I said and I felt his tail also wrap round me. "I never will Emily. I promise" he said and I rested my head on his chest. We danced until the music ended and then Tom pulled me away. "I think we need to go" he said. "What's wrong?" I asked and he laughed. "Mum can't get Jake to sleep. He wants me to read him a story or you to tuck him in" he said and I hugged him. "Let's go then" I said. "I'm going to find Sammy, you don't mind waiting, do you?" He said but I shook my head and he left. He came back after a minute with Sammy asleep in his arms. "She drunk too much" he said and we headed to the exit.
