The Christmas Story

Luke 2:10-14

"'But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today, in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you, you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
"'Suddenly a great company of Heavenly host appeared with the angel praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest and on Earth peace to men on whom His favor rests."'



Jesus is the reason for the season. The birth of Christ is celebrated on December 25th every year for. One thing I hate is that everyone thinks Christmas is about the presents and stuff. It's NOT! I've noticed that both Christmas and Easter are decieved as holidays to get gifts. Christmas: everyone says that Santa is what Christmas is about. Well guess what! It's NOT! Christmas isn't about presents! Christmas is about the birth of Jesus Christ, the one who died on the Cross for our sins to give us eternal life in Heaven with God. This time of year is about giving to others less fortunate and about family. But most importantly, Christmas is about the birth of Christ. Jesus was birthed by the virgin Mary in a manger in the town of Bethlehem. That night a star shined brighter and bigger than any other over the manger and an Angel spred the word that a Savior had been born. Celebrating the birth of Christ is what this time of year is all about!
Easter: Everyone thinks it's about the Easter Bunny comming and leaving candy and eggs. Well it's NOT! Easter is the day that Christ rose from the grave three days after He died on the Cross. When He rose He said He would come again one day and that day will be known as Judgement Day. The day Christ returns will be the greatest day ever because we will be redeemed through Him. But here's one thing: our life here on Earth is not really our home. We are just passing through! This World is NOT our home and this life is NOT our own! We are just passing through! Our life here on Earth is what God has planned for us. When He sees that we have fullfilled our purpose and His plan for us, He brings us HOME. Our HOME is in Heaven with Him where we will have eternal life forever!

And Easter is NOT about candy and gifts from a bunny!
So remember the true reason for this season! We all get so caught up in everything that we forget what the true meaning of Christmas is!
