Chapter 4

Not uttering a single word, I stood frozen in place, mauling over his words in my head. What did he mean by giving up his own time? How was it even humanly possible to change the time on anther human beings life? Sure I could heal any kind of ailment or wound and that in itself was as abnormal as you could get, but this whole exchanging of time thing was impossible.

“Don’t think about it too much.”  I heard him laugh without turning around to face me.

“But-” I began to retort but got cut off by him

“Just sit tight and watch. I’m about to show you how I deal out time.”  He said as he outstretched his hand and placed it on Miss. Gambino’s shoulder. She shrieked at the sudden contact and made a move to alert someone of what was going on, but was quickly silenced when he placed his free hand over her mouth. “Now, now, April,” he said with a smug grin plastered on his face. “We can’t have you causing a fuss over this right now. It’ll make things complicated for me. It’s already bad enough that I’m not charging you for what I’m about to do for you right now. So shut the hell up and be grateful.”

I wanted to tell him to be nicer to her, that he was sounding like jerk.  But my words failed me because I was too shocked by the sight of her face and body taking on a more youthful appearance. The wrinkles on her face vanished and gave way to newer, tighter skin, and her long hair became even darker until it looked completely brunette, as opposed to the dull brown color it was earlier. Even her eyes gained a bit of vitality as they changed from a dull blue to a deep ocean blue. She looked timeless, as if she hadn’t aged a day past 30.

“How…did you just do that?” I asked him in amazement as I looked at the revitalized April before me.

Releasing her and looking down at me with his normal blue eyes, he sighs. “Were you listening to me at all?” He said shaking his head. “I can control the flow of time; whether it’s belonging to the body or an inanimate object, I can use that things time to how I see fit.”

Breaking my eyes away from a bewildered April I look back at the new guy in realization. “But, if what you say is true…you now hold her time within you. What are you going to do with it?” I asked him, my eyes desperately searching his face for an answer.

He looks out her window at something before looking back at me, “Come outside with me, and I’ll show you.” He said, staring at me intently. I hadn’t the brightest idea as to what he wanted to show me outside, but if that was going to give me some answers as to what or who he was, I was prepared to follow him right out that door. I also had to find out what he meant by him and me being linked by destiny. I make a move to follow him out the door but stop in my tracks when I hear April speak up from her bed.

“Don’t tell me you’re going to leave like that without tell me how the hell you just did what you guys did?!” Her demanding voice rang out.

“Ms Gambino I’d love to explain but….”

“Listen lady, this guy here or I don’t have to explain ourselves to you. Hell, you’re lucky I didn’t charge you for my services. Now, if you’d quit your yapping and shut your mouth, I’d like to excuse myself to get rid of your time before I have second thoughts of putting it into your boobs and making them sag to the floor.” He said sarcastically. Her eyes widened at his blatant disrespect and threat. when she snapped out of her state of shock, she opened her mouth to retort, but got cut off by him. “And another thing,” he says with a bit of venom seeping into his words. “If you mention any of this to the doctors or the police, I will find you and age you until you’re nothing but dust in the wind.”

Now that made her and I both go silent as we looked at him. “What?” He asked me, the poison his voice held gone,and now replaced with confusion. “I’m doing this to protect you, now come on. We have to get out of here.” He said grabbing my hand and dragging me out the door.
