Now there are some things you should know about this story:-
1) TITLE CHANGE => This story was previously published under the title "The Gift and The Curse". Sorry for any inconvenience that might have caused. I just figured MAYA suits this story better.
2) CHARACTER NAME CHANGE => Believe it or not, my characters came to me and were like "i don't like the names you gave us. I wanna be this and that!" And who am I to say no? So Estrella Davis' changed to Maya Davis, Tristan Gold decided to be Eagan Goldson and Lutherina Silver threatened me with her magic to change her name to Salindra Margaux. She says she prefers to come from a French background. Weird right? I know! Hope you like the new names. :)
3) PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED => And yes I unpublished this story before, because I was going through some pretty tough times last year which made me suffer depression. But I'm over that now and I look forward to writing and publishing many more stories.
4) WRITING STYLE => So I decided to write cinematographically. Yeesh! That's a big English. Lol. It just simply means my writing is like an adaptation of a movie. A scene by scene story, Hence the third person narrative. I'd like to thank Stephen King and Dean Kootnz, my idols in writing for that inspiration.
5) NEWBIE => Yupsie! This is my first story ever. I am an amateur more like a beginner so I am prone to make mistakes but your advice is always welcome. I want to know your thoughts on every chapter. Please be nice and if your critique can't be nice, at least lay it on me gently. Thank you. Your votes would be appreciated.
6) QUOTES => I will be using a lot of sayings and quotes in this story. Every writer has a signature and this is mine. Now, the sayings or quotes you see in this story are mostly mine but a part of it was from other authors and I'll refer to them below. What I want you to know is that, at the end of each saying or quote, I'll put the name of the character that said it in a narrator voice.
Kind of like the season film, 'Revenge', Emily Thorne always starts each episode with something intellectual or ends the episode the same way too. So when you see a saying, just know it's in a narrative voice.
7) NO MORE CAST => I know it sucks but previously I had this whole cast planned out. Chrishell Stubbs would be Maya, Idris Elba as Malik, David Gandy as Liam, Jada Pinkett Smith as Salindra and so on...but I spend half the time I'm supposed to use writing,, in finding suitable people for my cast. And using the right picture for each episode. It's really daunting for me. So for now, at least..I'm not casting anybody. I'll leave that to your imagination.
8) BOOK COVER => And just because the girl in the book cover is a redhead doesn't mean she is Maya. I used her picture (downloaded from Pinterest) because it catches my eye.
Maya is black. She is a melanin skinned diva. I grew tired of all the wolf stories I read on here with their characters being white and all. I have nothing against white people, I just wanted a change and I went for it. Why complain when you can do something about it right? So that's what I did. Maya is black. Eagan is white. Salindra is black. Malik is Indian American black! Katherine is white! Maya's dad is Hispanic and so is her mom. Kitchii is Oriental as in Asian.
So these characters are a mixture of people from different backgrounds. I love variety.
Here's a list of the quotes I used in this story. Most of it is originally mine but there are some that are not. And I'll list them here and add the Author's names and where I used them. I'll continue to update this Author's note.
"Fire is the test of gold, adversity, of strong men." -Martha Graham. (Chap 1)
"The measure of a man is what he does with power." -Pittacus. (Chap 2)
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson. (Chap 3)
"Rumors are ripples through a cornfield. They are ephemeral but they do indicate which way the wind is blowing." -Susan J. Palmer. (Chap 6)
So I guess that's it. Enjoy the story.
