Everly's POV

I was told by my aunt, Kalynn, that my real parents had died the day I was born. One in a car crash, the other during childbirth. Not exactly what a 6 year old child wants to hear. I, along with my twin brother Caleb, was sent to an adoption center because Kalynn couldn't raise enough money to keep food on our plate. 11 years go by and in all honestly, I can not wait to escape this death trap. "It's breakfast time." Caleb says while poking his head in our room. I don't say anything. Instead I just get up and we walk together down to the dining room and take a seat next to each other.

"Is this everyone?" I hear Kieandra ask.

"Should be. Let's get to eating!" Someone down the table says. I laugh.

"Alright ladies and gentlemen, before we eat breakfast," Mrs. Chevy says while Caleb and I groan.

"Can't we just eat?" Caleb asks.

"And then talk? Everyone in here is starving." I finish for him.

"No, this is very important." I roll my eyes. Everything is important to her.

"Well, we tried." I whispered to Caleb. He snickers before letting her continue.

"Thank you. One of you special people, are going to get adopted today!" She claps. The little kids cheer and smile really wide. I grin at their behavior before sliding out of my seat and heading right across the room to the bathroom so I could get a good look at the family, Kiendra following right behind me. She shuts the door and we peak out the crack between the door and the doorframe. A young couple walks in with a God following right behind them. He has a bored expression upon his face. I slowly slide my hand out to check for drool, and sure enough, it was there. I look at Kie and see her drooling, too.

"There's two." I hear her whisper. I look back out the door to see not only one, but two gods standing by the couple just laughing and fooling around.

"They're hot." I whisper to her. She nods in agreement.

"Where's Everly and Kieandra?" Mrs. Chevy asked around. Kie and I look at each other with wide eyes.

"One of us is going to have to go out there. And I pick you." She says and pushes me out the door. She slams the door behind me which causes everyone's attention to turn towards me. Great.

"She- uh. She ran to the bathroom, and I was seeing what was wrong. She just had to poop, that's all." I think up a quick lie. The little kids giggle.

"Everly, may I speak with you in the kitchen." Mrs. Chevy asks me.

"Sure," I muttered before whispering, "As long as I get my food first." I guess Caleb, Jackie, Chelsea, and Jasmyn heard me because they all laughed. The family turned their heads towards me, curious as to what I said. I look at them and walk the opposite direction, following Mrs. Chevy to the kitchen.

"These lovely people are looking for a little girl to adopt. I do not want you to cause all this commotion and send them out the door without paying. You are a disgrace to this place. I wish I would've never took you two in." She spits. I laugh.

"You're funny. Face the facts, I'm the best person you have in here. This place wouldn't be the same without me or Caleb so I suggest you stop sassing me before this gets ugly." I spit back to where she literally have to wipe my saliva off her face. I turn on my heels and walk back to the kitchen. "So Caleb, apparently we're a disgrace. But what's new?" I say as soon as my butt steps into the door leading to the kitchen.

"She said that?" He asks, standing up.

"Well, not the last part." I shrug.

He starts trying to walk past me but I push him away each time. "It's okay, I handled it." I say in my normal, monotoned voice. He shoves past me and I grab his hand and sling him to the ground of the dining room. "I said I handled it." I said trough gritted teeth. He rolls his eyes before sitting right back down. I head towards the bathroom and walk in. Kieandra is sitting on the sink, smiling. I slam the door behind me.

"You need to learn how to control your anger." She smirks and takes a bite of her apple. I roll my eyes.

"I like to think of it as a way to always win in a fight. Where did you get that apple?"

"A good magicia-" she gets interrupted by the car herself.

"Girls! Out now!" Her loud voice says through the door. I open the door and walk past her. Kie follows me. "The family is on the other room, filling out papers. I want you two to start cleaning, the cleaning supplies are in the room where they're in. I want you to scrub the floor with toothbrushes. If they ask, say you two think it works better than a mop. Chop chop." She says and pushes us outside of the room where the noticeably rich family is. Kie takes the honor of opening the door and sliding in. I follow shortly behind her to be greeted by two families. Two God families. Three hot male teenagers are in the room with me. The best part? They're in the way of the janitor's closet. Why do I care so much, you may or may not be asking. Well that's where the cleaning supplies are located. I slightly kick Kie on the butt and motion wit my eyes at the janitor's closet. Her eyes follow the direction before she makes an 'o' shape with her mouth. I push her towards the door and she trips over a chair and onto to the floor. I hold back a laugh as she tried to recover. The three Gods watch her every move, like she was some type of threat to them. "My bad." She says. She gets up and squeezes between them. She opens the closet and motions me over. I accept her command and maneuver around the chair she tripped on. I walk behind the Gods making sure I'm not seen but, they stare me down the exact same way that they stared at Kie. It seems like forever before I make it to the closet and she throws me the supplies.

"Well, we don't have all day." She says. I sigh and walk out.
