My Eminence

“Ezzy, dear. Wake up.”

Papa was shaking me awake rather roughly. He sounded almost concerned or fearful of something.

“Ezra, lovely. Get up; we need to talk with you.”

I sat up in my bed, rubbing my face. Looking at them, I yawned loudly.

“…what happened?”

“Did you do anything to Timothy? He’s very sick all of a sudden. His mum said she found him on the ground outside this tent earlier all shriveled up into a ball.”

“I taught him a lesson. Papa can I try to bring him back to life if I kill him? Orlowe said he thinks I could. Please Papa? Please Daddy?”

They talked amongst themselves for a few moments before looking back at me. Papa nodded slowly at me.

“If you can make him better… you may have just ruined a family Ezzy…”

“…that’s the least of my concern right now… where is Timothy right now?”

Daddy led me around the grounds to the Vrykul tents. Within minutes we found him and his parents. He looked so helpless laying there. It sickened me, not that I did this just that he was so pathetic.

“Ezra said she may be able to help your child.”

“She’s the one that ruined my baby! I don’t want her to touch him again! She should be thrown out of these grounds! Left to her own resources!”

“Calm down! She’s only twelve. She didn’t know what she was doing… she wasn’t in her right mind.”

“…Daddy… can I help him now?”

“Yes, honey. Help this child.”

“Now ma’am I need to kill him before I can make him batter. I would rather not have to do this but it’s a must.”

She nodded slowly, stepping away from Timothy, trusting me with his life. I was scared.

“Little Ezra, take your dagger and stab it into his heart. You will need to go into his chest anyways.”

I did as Orlowe said, not questioning him for a moment. Timothy’s mum screamed as he drew his last breath. I tossed her a glance that asked for silence.

“Alright, now cut open his chest… yes like that… now then dig your fingers into the heart. Okay. Come on Ezra, you can do this. Now what you don’t realize is you have Holy energy in you as well. Focus on pumping that into the heart.”

Whimpering loudly I did just that. Very faintly I could feel the heart starting to beat again.

“Good, keep going. Now remember, ‘Three parts Holy, one part Shadow keeps a happy and healthy soul.’ This will be the most important thing you ever remember. Ezradrean, pump a bit of shadow energy into him now. Perfect, child. As you pull your hand out continue pumping Holy energy into him to seal the wound.”

As soon as my hand was out, the wound was completely gone, only a faint scar held onto him. I slapped him across the face before falling to the ground in intense pain.

“…you bastard… ow…”

He must have woken up or something with all the happy cheers of the Vrykuls. Papa picked me up, holding me tightly and stroking my head.

“Your child is a miracle, Maxwell! She could help the ground’s healers and save so many people!”
