⠀⠀
⠀⠀most people would think standing on the edge of a 6 story apartment building was dangerous, but for min yoongi, it couldn't have been more normal.⠀⠀something about being one step away from life and death made him feel alive, like he finally had control over something.
⠀⠀yoongi wiggled his toes within his shoes as he looked over the edge at the ground below. he watched as all the cars and humans scurried around like ants on the busy streets of seoul.
⠀⠀the males black hair shifted as the wind blew, chilling him lightly. yoongi was wearing a black sweater with ripped skinny jeans that despite how skinny they were, fit loosely on his thin legs.
⠀⠀a casual outfit for standing on a roof.
⠀⠀yoongi went up to the roof whenever he felt stressed or whenever he needed a breather and right now, he needed one. he was feeling down but didn't know the source of his unhappiness, it just seemed like each day he was becoming more upset with how his life was going.
⠀⠀he was unemployed, unmotivated, and untalented, then top of all of that, he had no plans for the future. in high school he had a brief interest in singing but soon enough he had been told by his high school chorus instructor that he wouldn't make it far singing.
⠀⠀soon after, he had dropped the class.
⠀⠀since then, yoongi just couldn't figure out what he enjoyed and found himself on the roof usually once or twice a day.
⠀⠀yoongi's thoughts were interrupted by a familiar jingle playing from his phone, signaling that his landlord, kim seokjin, was calling. for a moment he thought about ignoring the call not wanting to be bothered in his relaxation time but in the end, he picked up the call.
⠀⠀"yes seokjin?" yoongi began as he brought the phone to his ear. seokjin didn't waste any time in replying.
⠀⠀"yoongi, what took you so long to answer my call? don't tell me you're on the roof again," yoongi had to momentarily take the phone away from his ear to avoid going deaf as a result of seokjin's loud nagging.
⠀⠀"at least i answered right? and i guess i won't tell you," yoongi said, giving his usual blunt reply. seokjin let out a long sigh before giving an actual reply.
⠀⠀"yoongi you really should spend less time on that roof, i know things are kind of rough with you but," yoongi inturrupted seokjin's developing lecture with a loud groan.
⠀⠀"seokjin, you've given me this lecture a million times," yoongi began, causing the other to cease their speaking. "what did you originally call for?"
⠀⠀"oh that! i called to inform you that two people will be moving into the empty apartment next to yours," seokjin said, his previously low and somewhat sad voice replaced with a happy and enthusiastic one.
⠀⠀"you could have just called namjoon and told him to tell me, i know he would love to receive a call from you," yoongi teased, purposely emphasizing the word love as he spoke. it took a few moments for seokjin to reply, clearing his throat before doing so.
⠀⠀"you just always have to mention namjoon in our conversations don't you?" seokjin asked rhetorically with a sigh. "anyway, i did call and tell him to tell you but i doubted that he'd actually get the message to you," he added.
⠀⠀"that's reasonable," yoongi said, agreeing with seokjin's last statement. a small silence occurred before yoongi decided to speak again, "was there anything else you needed?" he asked.
⠀⠀"also if it isn't too much of a hassle, i'd like you to greet your new neighbors and make them feel welcome tomorrow, thank you!" seokjin said before abruptly ending the call, giving yoongi no time to decline before the line went dead.
