I've got to get her to safety! My chest thrummed with blind energy as I gathered myself for another dead sprint through the sleeping city. The sky blackened and seemed even more malicious than it did moments before. My legs pumped long and hard while the babe in my arms slept softly. If her father didn't use his magic to keep her asleep, I would've lost my mind trying to conceal a crying baby. Buildings quickly faded out of sight once my power burned through my legs. We were on the outskirts of town now. I should be safe. I need an Inn, all this running is tiring. Walking by a small shack were three shady looking men. Each one bore tales of their life in tattoos across their arms. Grinning at me they stood up and started walking towards me. Purple energy shimmered across their tattoos. The Legionare Sigal! Adrenaline weakly seeping into my bones. I've been running all night, this is the last thing I wanted to deal with today. Legionares were the equivalent of law enforcement in the Poorer districts. The Primer had no qualms about it either, so he let the bullying continue. No skin off his back. The Primer was powerful enough to destroy cities, luckily with his power, he also owned those cities.

I bolted in the other direction, hard footfalls were closing in on me. Gritting my teeth I quickly hid the child and cracked my knuckles. Walking away from her hiding space I turned around. They were on me in an instant. If they were sent by the Night Riders, I couldn't defeat them. There hasn't been a fair fight since I met the NightRiders. They were one of the only creatures I am afraid of. On a darker note, they killed my master, the babes father.

Anger laced through my veins and I met the three head on in battle. My eyes, I've been told, glow silver when I activate my power. Each of these men had eyes that were as black as sin. My right fist collided with the first mans jaw. Turning into the blow, he faced me again stiking me doubly in the face. Ouch, durable little prick! A minion is something out of my league!? Frowning I pivoted and jutted my right leg out to slam into the second man's ribcage. He instantly went intangable and grinned at me. Well damn. A shadow merger too! This isn't looking too good. I wasn't prepared for both of them being talented. Muscle man combo punched my ribs while the last man pulled out a variety of knives. Well unless a guardian is around, I'm on my own....If I'm not careful this might actually hurt. The third man carefully minced my rib cage with shallow cuts crisscrossing my ribs, while the shadow user and muscles held me still.

"C'mon you wussies! Is this all you've got!?" Pain rippled through my abdomen and I coughed up blood. I can't keep this up for much longer! Kicking my legs up I kicked the knife guy in the face, making him fall on his back. With all this rapid movement, muscles staggered off balance releasing his iron grip on me. The shadow user wasn't nearly as strong as muscles so with my free hand I aimed a punch at his head. As soon as he went intangible I was free.

Facing them all I fell on one leg, wounded and exhausted. I'm completely empty! I have no energy from that sprint earlier today! The three of them slammed on top of me and started battering at me again. A stone fist collided with my ribs and I could hear some crack, a dagger cut my pectorals into paper mache, and the shadow user was taking pot shots at my face with his flimsy girl hands. Today was not my day. With one swollen eye I turned back towards where I hid the baby. She was hidden well, and they wouldn't find her. Someone with the sight will find her soon. Darkness crept into the fringes of my vision and I forced myself to stay awake.

Golden beams of light flew into sight, relieving me of a great weight. Am I dying now? A voice called out to me.

I can't hear much, or see much, or feel...anything. Closing my eyes I felt a hand on my chest. My cracked ribs ached and I lay paralyzed in pain. Just let me die!

"Dammit! There's going to be hell to pay if you don't get your blasted hands off me!" my shouts didn't improve my condition. If anything, it made it worse. Tired and weak, I welcomed the darkness again. Bursts of raw untamed energy brought me back again. This time I had nothing left except ragged breaths. Why!? How is someone doing this!?

"Stay with me damnit! You have a little girl to look after!" I opened my eyes a peek. A man roughly my age with glowing golden eyes was above me with hims hands covered in my blood. .... Wait, golden eyes!?
