Chapter Seven
Cecile gathered her things after the bell rang.
"So, Ben." She slung her book sack over her shoulder. Her fierce blue eyes matched her new friend's passive brown. "Where you going next?"
He grabbed all of his things. "Um, I'm going to Biology II." Her face lit up. "That's close to the gym right? I'm going to gym!" Cecile squealed. Ben nodded. "Yeah it is."
She adjusted her book sack better on her shoulders. "I'll walk with you! You can meet Foster!" She explained as she left the room with Ben. He tried to hide a chuckle from her.
A fuzzy head of dark hair then appeared beside Cecile. Cecile jumped.
"J-Jane! A sneak attack, huh? Well, bitch, I wasn't scared." She said stubbornly. Jane smiled, but the smile faded when she noticed Ben.
He heated up. "Jane?! The most popular girl in school?" He hissed under his breath.
Cecile nodded, "She's my antagonist." She explained. His eyebrows came together in confusion, but he slowly nodded as if he understood.
Jane stared at Ben from behind her thick bangs. Her frown deepened before she squeezed Cecile harder.
Her face never left from Ben's direction. Ben started to sweat a bit under her fierce gaze. His eyes looked around for something that they could focus on, other than the most popular girl in school's angry face which was directed straight at him.
Meanwhile, Cecile tried to struggle away from the small girl's hug. "It's an assassination attempt! Ben! HELP!" Cecile begged.
"Bye." He simply said to Jane before pulling Cecile away.
He glanced back to see Jane pounding her fist into her other hand as she stared after them.
He looked back to Cecile. "Are you sure that girl isn't your best friend or something?" He murmured.
Cecile laughed. "Jane? My best friend? No. She's my rival. I thought I already explained this." He nodded. "You did, but..."
Ben then freaked out when he realized he was grabbing onto her soft upper arm. He quickly let go. "Uh! S-so where's this Foster guy?!" He asked.
Cecile looked around. "Oh, I'll find him! He's not hard to miss." She explained as her eyes searched. Her sight then clapped onto her tall sidekick, milling about the crowd.
"There he is! Foster~!!" She waved at him. Foster's figure then seemed to walk a bit faster away after his name was called.
"Huh. He must've not heard." Cecile grabbed Ben's wrist. "Let's go!" She smiled and dragged him to Foster.
"Foster!" Cecile waved again. Foster finally looked back. "Oh, it's you." He frowned then looked at Ben.
"I see you claimed another victim into your messed up world. Speaking of, I've overextended my stay here. How do you get a one-way ticket out?" He snarked.
Cecile laughed, not noticing Foster's deadly glare. "Oh Foster! Joking as always! This is my new partner, Ben!" Cecile introduced him.
