Tick, tick, tick. The sound increased in a loud rate, my heart pounded fast. I knew the sound from somewhere, but where? The ticking pursued and I felt an odd pull, as if someone was lifting up my being. Then I realized what it was.
"NO! NO!" I screamed and I reached out, but she couldn't her me. I crouched to the ground, grabbing the rug as if it would help me stay.
"NO! I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK!" I screeched again and breathing quickened. As the invading darkness cornered my vision I saw her look back. Her eyes widened and she shoved him off, she stumbled towards me with her arm outstretched. I barely heard her heels clicking on the ground, one of them catching on a crack. She stumbled forward and went face down. As she struggled to right herself, she got her leg suck in her dress. A swear escaped her lips and she continued forward. She crawled toward me fast and I could see her thin hand reach, almost touching mine.
But she was too late.
