I watched as my brother served the volleyball over the net, Undyne letting out a laugh and diving to hit it. I smiled at the scene and looked over at Toriel who was talking with Asgore about how she wanted to teach Papyrus how to cook better. Mettaton was taking selfies with Alphys who looked ready to die of embarrassment, her expression earning a chuckle from me.

It's been two years since I broke the barrier with Y/N's soul and freed the monsters. At first, the humans had been cautious around us but then started warming up after seeing how kind we had become after our hopes had finally been fulfilled. I was an emotional wreck after the barrier was broken, Y/N's death still haunting me. But thanks to my friends, I was able to get over it and now think of her as a happy memory instead of one that always filled me with sorrow.

I was pulled out of my thoughts by Papyrus' excited yelling and pointing up into the sky. We had all gathered here in the park to watch the meteor shower tonight, the sky already dark with twinkling stars lighting up the empty blackness. "IT'S STARTING! IT'S STARTING!" Papyrus yelled, running over to me and sitting cross-legged with excitement. I chuckled at his behavior and looked up at the night sky along with my friends, my white pupils searching for shooting stars.

That's when I saw them.

Dozens of meteors streaked across the sky, their white tails trailing behind them. We all 'ooh'ed and 'ahh'ed at the sight, a smile on our faces.

thank you, y/n, I thought, my small smile genuine. thank you for giving me the key to getting to the surface. i'll never forget you.

THE END

So what do ya' think? Like the story? I've always wanted to write a story with a somewhat sad ending so did I do good?

I really enjoyed writing this, Horrortale is one of my favorite Undertale AUs because of the blood and gore. (wake me up insiiide)

Anywaaays, I hope you enjoyed the story as much as I enjoyed writing it!
