Arriving at the house I was Amazed! The house was huge, it had this contempory style to it that I loved. We stopped right at the front of the house and the driver helped with my bags. Entering the house I could hear the familiar screams of my cousins. Every time my cousins came to Australia they stayed with us and it always was loud while they were around. I think thats something Im going to miss. Aunt Jill has 6 kids, yes I know thats a lot. So there is Aiden who is the oldest he is 21 and moved out apparently. Then you got Kate who is a little older than me, she is 19. Then you got the twins who are 16, Harley and Maddy are almost identical. After those to you got Ben who is 12, he is pretty much a nerd but I love him anyway. And last but not least you got Harry, this little boy is 6 years old. Big family I know.
"Kids I am home and I got a surprise for you." Aunt Jills voice boomed through the house entry. Wait didnt she tell them I was coming?
"Mum what is it?" I need to get going soon for work I think that was Kate.
"Mum is it food?" I think that was one of the twins.
"Did you get me my new book?" yeah that one definitely was Ben.
"Mummy did you get me a new stuffed bear?" aww that would have been Harry.
All of them come walking into the entry way but stop when they see me.
"Hey" I waved towards them and before I know it I am getting attacked by hugs and hellos.
"What are you doing here Alex?" Kate spoke with a warm smile.
"I needed a change and Aunt Jill here offered for me to live here with you" looking towards the floor I hoped that the girls would understand, they knew why I needed a change but the boys were too young to understand except for Aiden he knew too. She just nodded and her smile grew.
"Well this will be awesome, I havent seen you in ages and I cant wait to catch up." The others were just silently smiling at me. Kate was always the one who spoke for the group of kids, even Aiden let her be the leader. Slowly they all got off of me because somehow we all ended up on the floor.
"Come on sweetie we better get you settled, I bet your tired" Aunt Jills voice interrupted the little reunion. She was right though I was tired so I just agreed and followed her up to my room. Again I was amazed by the room.
"Who did this?" It was so pretty.
"Me and the twins, they knew you were coming as they over heard the conversation with your mum. So I took it as an opportunity for their help and this is what they came up with. I hope you like it."
"I love it, its exactly how I would have it. Thank you!" I was still in aww and my voice was small.
"That's good, a bathroom is attached and all you need is in there and tomorrow the girls will take you out shopping but right now Ill have someone bring you some food and you can have a rest."
She was smiling towards me and I smiled back, she brought me in for a tight squeeze and I hugged her back with as much force.
"You deserve all this and its the least I can do, you are so strong and beautiful." I nodded knowing that bringing it up wasnt going to help so just leaving it was for the best. she finally let go and started walking away leaving me with my room. I slowly walked around touching every small detail, smiling to myself I felt at peace. memories threatened to bubble to the surface but I didn't let them. I wasn't going to let tonight be sad, it was the start of something new. I promised my mum that after a year I will be ready, ready to face everything but right now I need to be grateful for this.
I finally made it to my bed, it looks so soft and comfy. With out hesitation I flopped done onto it. I was right it felt like I was on a cloud. shutting my eyes I let out a small sigh of contentment, I wish it could just stay like this. Starting school will be a difficulty but I will get through it, new me new ways lets just hope I don't run into anything to bad. I could hear footsteps approaching my room and knew that it would be Kate, since uncle Kevin passed away she wold help a lot with things, she was a lot more mature then the others and wouldn't mind doing the things that needed to be done.
"Hey babe, I got you some dinner" yup I was right.
"Thank you so much!" slipping off the bed I took the food out of her hands. we both sat down and shared the chicken salad that she had given me.
"How has things been going?" I knew that this question was coming.
"alright I guess, the night mares are still bad and I still cant go to the the place with out having a panic attack but hopefully after this year I can go home and deal with everything the way dad wanted me to". I didn't make eye contact with her at all until I felt her arms wrap around me and hold me close.
"Its not your fault ok, this year will help. Once we can get you settled you will be able to enjoy life a little more... I promise". she didn't let go until she was finished and I could feel my emotions coming forward. No I will not let this happen, dad wouldn't want me to feel like this.
"I don't want to feel this pain anymore, dad wouldn't want that for me." I looked into her eyes andcould see that she understood.
