I force my eyelids open and stare at the bright glaring numbers on my phone. It's 2:14 in the morning. Sleep evades me; again.

My muscles ache with restlessness, but I don't move. I need to sleep.

My mind wonders; wisps, fragments, and shards of thought rush through my mind, each more incomplete than the last.

Memories bubble, grip, tear their way to the surface, ripping my mind to shreds.

Praying to slip into unconsciousness, I endure the storm. Terror and grief and rage bound through my veins.

Tears of both gloom and joy wet my eyes as I tumble into darkness, and wish for a dreamless sleep.
