His hand caresses my face, wiping away my tears that I didn't even know that I was crying. I can't stop crying because I'm so scared of him. He took me from my family in the middle of the night and now he is sitting here comforting me. He gathered me into his arms and holds me. Stroking my hair and whispering into my ear that he'll protect me and that he's sorry for scaring me and that he will never hurt me. His scared cheek rubs against mine as he talks. I mean its sweet to have someone care if I cry, but he's my capture. . . .

" Why do you say that you won't hurt me when you already have? " I ask, as accusingly as I can since I just cried my eyes out? Trying to get out of his grasp

"What are you talking about? " asks the beast looking mildly surprised and confused. Still not letting go. He's got a grip stronger than steel " What did I do? I'm sorry if I hurt you. "

Well, the shock of being here and seeing fido finally wore off. " You're sorry?! Ha, ha, ha you're sorry! " I yell, laughing sadistically, " You're not the one that's going to miss the rest of the swim season! You're not the one who is going to miss sections! And you aren't the one that's going to miss your friends, or homecoming! Which I somehow managed to snag a date for, who is kind of cute. My grades are going to plunge so bye, bye full ride too. I wake up in some freaking room that could pay for my college! I'm ripped from my FAMILY in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT BY SOME FREAK OF NATURE!!!" I'm screaming now and I really don't care that I'm venting. This is the creep that kidnapped me. I open my mouth to say more but someone had to interrupt.

"SHUT IT!" he bellows, " you think its easy to look like this!" He motions to himself. A look of disgust on his scared and twisted face.

"Well, you don't have to go outside, " I scream back. "You don't have to go to school, or worry about your GPA and your family either."

" So I've been this hideous thing for over 700 years. I have no education, no friends, or family for that matter, and i'm cursed" He says yelling at first, then getting quieter as he goes on. "and I had to take you from all that you've ever known and make you live here... with me."

"Now you get to Doc." I say still seething, " You took me from everything I've ever known and set me in this room. You scare me, you have no manners. Dude I don't even know your name!" God I feel like crying again. This is just not my day.

He opens his mouth to say something but stops. I realize that i'm standing at the other end of the couch. Guess that having a big voice helps in some areas of life. He's standing by where I scampered off to when he first tried to touch me. His claws are out, shinning in the fire light, a look of menace in his eyes. He looked truly terrifying, and very much a beast.

As soon as I saw it, it just . . . disappeared. Replacing the look of ferociousness was the look of understanding and of kindness. His eyes held a drop of guilt but about what, I don't know.

" I'm sorry. I haven't been around people for a long time, and I'm afraid that I've forgotten some of the most simple things. Please accept my sincere apology." He says, speaking softly. He slowly walks back to the sofa and sits down. He puts his head in his hands.

"Can. . . we. . . can we start over again?" he asks hesitantly, like he's afraid that I'll refuse, "Please?"
