After the boys left Harry's flat Harry headed back out from his bedroom. He looked around to make sure everyone was gone before locking his front door. He quickly and silently made his way to the surveillance room. Even though he was alone he felt like someone was secretly judging him. Even though he was supposed to be watching this girl, going there without his friends made it seem like he was doing something bad. He didn't like the feeling but he ignored it to the best of his abilities.

Harry went into the surveillance room and closed the door behind him. He noticed that Adalynn was still awake, still hunched over her textbook. There was something different about her now, though. Harry had noticed that she usually seemed very confident in what she did, even after hours and hours of sitting she sat straight. Even when she didn't sit up completely straight there was some sort of confidence in the way she sat.  But at this moment she was slouched and seemed to be shaking. With closer inspection Harry realized she was crying. After a few moments of Harry watching her she sniffed and sat up, mumbling to herself.

"No. Stop. Stop crying. You b-bitch."

Harry didn't usually like swearing, but when she did it seemed okay, it seemed natural. He immediately felt worried about  Adalynn, and felt a longing to know what was wrong. Adalynn held up her arm in front of her face and Harry gasped. Three gleaming lines of blood decorated her wrist. Adalynn shook her head and closed her eyes.

"I can't believe...I did it again..." Harry wished she would keep talking. It didn't matter that she didn't know he was listening and that she was talking to herself. All that mattered was that she was unhappy, and Harry wanted to know why.

"Two years clean," She laughed in spite of herself, "Two years of being able to convince myself that I'm confident. That I'm better. I shouldn't have been such a bitch earlier. I should've been nicer to Hayley. I'm lucky to have her."

Harry was confused. She had cut because she thought she had treated someone else badly?  Harry had watched that conversation, it seemed friendly banter. He had heard both Adalynn and Hayley laugh over the phone. She hadn't treated Hayley badly at all.

Adalynn sniffed, her expression suddenly turning angry. "You can't cut over everything. You're over-reacting." Harry nodded, he couldn't deny that  she was over-reacting. But he was sure that there was something else wrong. Nobody just harms themselves for things like that. There must be something deeper that Adalynn wasn't saying out loud.

Adalynn sighed and stood. She left the room for a moment and when she returned there was a cloth bandage around her wrist. Harry hoped she would keep talking, but instead she turned off her light and crawled into bed. He wished he could talk to her, but he didn't even know where to look. Instead, Harry simply watched as Adalynn fell asleep..
