Thrain

" Please?" I beg. I feeling so vulnerable, but I need to do this. I guess you can consider this my last ditch effort to see if I can break this curse before it becomes permanent. The couch shifts as she sits down next to me.

" So ..." she says softly, " whats your name?"

What did I do to get a girl like her? "Thrain."

"Thrain. . .you mean like the The Last King Under the Mountain, from ' The Hobbit ' " she says looking suddenly exited.

What is this gibberish!!?!

" You've seen the 'Hobbit' and the 'Lord of the Rings' movies before, right?" she asks "Tell me that you have at least read the books by J.R.R. Tolkien."

"What are you talking about, what are hobbits and who is the Lord of the Rings?" I ask, thoroughly confused. " and who is this other Thrain."

" Okay, you have lived a very, very deprived life," she says laughing slightly. I still don't know her name.

She opens her mouth to explain but I stop her. " Whats your name?" I ask cause it'll bug me to no end if I don't find out. I just have to know.

" Oh, sorry," she says, her face getting this bright shade of red. " my name is Ivy, you know, like the plant."

"Its pretty." I say, " your name I mean." my gods I'm making a complete fool of myself

" Thanks. Yours is rather medieval, I like it," she says, giving this little smile that absolutely kills me.

" You said something about someone named Thrain? Who was he?"

" Oh yeah, he was the last King Under the Mountain. He was a dwarf king out of a book that I read last summer or so," she says.

" Wait, so he's not real?" I am totally and utterly confused.

" Yes, he's not real, he's a character out of a book by J. R. R. Tolkien. It's a really good read."

Dang it girl I can't read. I said a lot of things that I don't tell people normally and she doesn't hear the part of me not being learned. Life sucks.

"Ivy, I can't. . . I can't read. Or do math." I mumble.

Thank you so much for reading the story. I hope that you like it. I really want to know what you people think about it. Please comment and vote. And please forgive the spelling and grammar. I know that it sucks.
