FEBRUARY THE 9th:
DAY 8:

The night air hit my face as we ran.
'Okay what the hell!' Cara stopped, demanding an answer, but instead the guy simply grabbed her arm pulling her along.
'Let go of me!' she screamed.
'Dude, let go!' I yelled.
Her arm slipped from his grip.
'Okay but you just gotta keep going.'
What are we running from?

We were running through the back streets. Surburbia. Usually nighttime is silent, but not this silent. Every house has their lights off. There was no smell of warm dinner. No sound of cutlery clinging. No movies playing on the tv. There was only the sound of howls and screams of barking dogs, reminding me of the yelps of the insane people.
'We shouldn't be out here like this,' I said, panting.
'Don't worry about it, were all good, just keep running cmon.' The guy said.

Suddenly, there was a blinding light behind us and the sound of a motor. My eyes had to adjust. It was headlights. There was a car behind us.

'Ughhhh!' The guy let out an annoyed yet scared scream, ' fuck! Cmon run faster!'

My legs hit the ground. My shins were aching, my knees felt like they could fall off at any moment, and my breath was escaping me quickly. I gulped, my throat dry and painful.

The lights were coming closer. The guy looked back, 'ahhh shit!'
His feet were pounding the ground quicker than mine and Cara's were.

'Through here!' The guy made a sharp left through a pathway between two houses. It was a hill. The feeling of doom filled my body, thinking of the pain I was about to put myself through.
'I can't do this!' Cara cried from the back.
'They'll kill you! Keep going!' The guy screamed.
What danger had we gotten ourselves into by following this guy?
I let out a painful groan as I pushed myself up the hill. It was enough pain in my chest and legs to make me want to give up.

And I hated myself for being so weak.

'Theres a a park up here! Keep going!' The guy yelled. Soon my shoes were squishing against the soft grass. The small comfort caught me off guard. Causing me to land on my hands and knees. It was comfortable here. I could finally relax.

'Get up!' The guy screamed grabbing underneath my shoulder. The car appeared on the other side of the park. And I was back onto my feet.
'Into the lake, cmon!' The guy said.

This has got to be the worst idea ever. But there was no other options.

We veered to the left, keeping low while still keeping a fast pace.

When we got to the edge of the bank, the guy told us to be quiet and crouch down, and slowly make it into the water.

I was hesitant at first, knowing my death was near.

First my feet. My shoes and socks filled with the squelchy water.

My legs. The cool numbness of the water made me forget about the pain I had felt a minute ago.

The car started driving through the park.

My stomach. The water tickled my skin.

My neck. The sweat was washed away.

The three of us floated in the water, facing each other. I could see the silhouette of both of them.
'On 3 we swim as far down to the bottom and stay there for as long as we can. Make no noise.'
