“Room for one please” I politely ask the receptionist at the hotel.

“Could I have your name please?” A short lady sitting at the reception desk replies.

“Charlotte Wilson”

“No worries, here is your key and your room is on the fourth floor, number 2 B” I thank her and take my suitcase and key before making my way to my room.

I sit patiently in the office waiting for my appointment with Casey, my modelling agent in London. I had met her in Melbourne,  and she organised work for me as soon as I arrived in London. I’m full of nerves, my eyes darting around the pictures of models from previous modelling shoots that are scattered around the office and the few stacks of magazines on a nearby coffee table. They are all amazing! As I gaze at the pictures of the beautiful people, I cross my fingers and hope that that could be me one day.

After what seems like an hour I’m escorted into Casey’s office, and I walk nervously into the room. The office is large, the walls plastered with pictures.  The room is centred with a large desk, and I take a seat in one of the red cushiony chairs that are opposite to the desk.  After a few minutes,  voice calls from the door,

“Hi Charlotte, it’s so good to see you again!”

I take in Casey’s stunning appearance as she walks into the office; the tall, slim, elegant frame,  the golden blonde hair that falls in mid-length waves down her back. She walks past me and around to the other side of the desk and sits in the large leather chair. She looks at me and smiles revealing a perfectly straight line of white teeth.

“How was the trip? Have you settled in ok? Where are you staying again?” she bombards me with questions, and all my nerves instantly disappear.

I laugh lightly, and reply to her many questions.  “Ummm the trip was great but very long, I have settled in fine but the city is hard to get around and I’m staying at the Knightsbridge Green hotel, which is right in the city.” I look up at her and see that she is flicking through the papers on her desk.

“Well, that’s quite lucky Charlotte, because I think I have found some work right in that area of London. We will start off clean and basic, to improve your portfolio, but when people start noticing you, we can start broadening your range.” I nod along as she talks about different companies she is trying to get me to model for, and different ways I can get experience, and I attempt to hide my excitement.

My modelling career has been going along well for the past couple of years; when I lived in my rural town I was always modelling for local shops and trying my best to get big in the city. After I moved to Melbourne, that was when it started taking off for me. I started to get noticed and was bombarded with work. It was overwhelming at first but once I settled in, I eventually got used to it. I met Casey in Melbourne, and she wanted me to come to London to do some work over here. It worked well for me.  I needed an excuse to get away from the past I had in Australia.

“Sorry to interrupt you, Miss Bradshore,  but Miss Calder is here to see you” a voice through the phone says.

“Perfect timing! Send her in, please. ” Casey replies with a grin.

The door creaks open and I turn to see a stunning, tall girl with long wavy brown hair entering the room. She is wearing dark skinny jeans and a long coat, matching perfectly the upper class London style.

“Charlotte, this is Eleanor. She’s another one of my clients” Casey explains as Eleanor walks into the room to face me.  Her teeth are perfect and her eyes are a bright green that are outlined by long eyelashes.
