Waking up anytime before seven o'clock in the morning after a summers holiday is hard, but waking up before seven to the sound of a blaring alarm on the first day of a new school is even harder. I never woke up earlier than eleven and the fact that its a new school makes me nervous. It's not that i'm not good at making new friends or adapting to new situations its just at some point you get a bit tired of moving to new places.
I've been to four different schools in the past year all because my alcoholic douche of a father always had new job opportunities every few months, but since ever since my parent divorce me and my mother moved to a small little town called that's more nature than people and I have a pretty good feeling that i'll be living in this town for quite a while. Which is great because i was starting to get exhausted of never settling down in one area.
Realizing I never turned hit the snooze button on my alarm and have been staring off into space for about twenty minutes I finally drag myself out of bed to get ready for school. I quickly go through the motions of my morning routine; which consist of showering, brushing my teeth and any other normal necessities and finally check myself in the mirror. I look decent, not too hot, not too dull. I don't do much with my hair realizing that I don't have much time and head downstairs. Walking through the house I go straight to the kitchen and grab a muffin that my mom always lays out for me before she goes to work and I rush out the door. Checking the time I notice that I have about 30 minutes before school starts so I start my journey toward the school. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to there so that leaves plenty of time for me to grab my schedule go to my locker and make it to class.
Strolling through the neighborhood I start to take in the scenery around me and think about how beautiful this town is with all its trees and rivers. I've always loved the idea of small towns, everywhere i've ever lived has always been some big city with too much going on. I like taking my time to enjoy the things around me and in big cities i always feel overwhelmed with everyone always rushing around as if the apocalypse has started. But so far i feel like myself here, always at ease and free to enjoy the world around me.
Finally reaching the parking lot of my school i could instantly tell by all the stares of the few student that occupied the parking lot that they knew i was the new kid. I don't like the feeling of attention so i rushed up the stairs as quickly as possible and made my way to the main office. The office is located in the front of the building so it wasn't too hard to find. Making my way through the glass door of the office I see someone sitting at the desk.
" Hello, is there something I can help you with?", said a kind lady who reminded me of a pixie; short hair and petite in size.
"Um yes, I'm Louis Tomlinson, I transferred here and needed a print out of my schedule." I said somewhat confidently.
"Ah yes, one second I'll get you your things shortly just wait here.", she spoke hurriedly heading towards the back.
Waiting for her to come back I start to zone out and think about the new school year and how hopefully this place will be different than the others. Maybe a smaller town will bring interesting people and different situations along with it.
" Here you go dear, I brought your schedule, School I.D, and the locks for your school and gym locker.", she said politely knocking me out of my day dream.
" Thank you, have a nice day!", I said with a warm smile but don't make any attempt to leave.
" Hun?', she said in a soft whisper seeming to understand why I was so hesitant to leave the office."Hey I get it, its a new school with new people. It can seem a bit overwhelming but you'll be fine.", she smiled.
