I wanted to start dating,
So I asked Dad what to do.
'Don't date a girl who reads'he said,
'That's my advice to you'
But I did it anyway
As I am wont to do.
It turned out he was right,
But I did date a few.
The problem with girls who read,
Is that they expect more from you.
Their heads are filled with worlds
Where people do what they want to do.
Worlds where romance and princes are plenty,
Imperfection and fights are few.
Don't expect too much from them,
The real world is new
And they'd much rather stay inside a book,
Than lay around with you.
I just didn't get it,
How these imaginary worlds grew
But there was a girl I couldn't leave behind,
And she liked a book or two.
So I had to follow her,
Into these worlds I flew
With her, we're still there now
With our imaginary crew.
I just didn't know how much fun it was,
Until I went there too.
'Girls who write are worse' mum said,
And I've discovered what she said was true.
See, they don't just read your story,
They want to write it too.
