"So the secret..?" Courtney asked, spinning her milkshake around on the table. I'd kind of hoped she had forgotten all about that. We had met up to get some food; it felt really weird going somewhere with just one person that wasn't Anthony. The whole town had noticed.

I let out a huge sigh.

"I caught him smoking.. it sounds stupid and like nothing but he knew why I hated people smoking..."

She stared at me blankly. I knew I shouldn't have told her. She won't understand unless I tell her the full story.

"Can I ask why you hate people smoking?" She gently asked.

"Smoking's what killed my dad." I said, I'd only ever told Anthony this; that's why I was annoyed. Or partly.

"I'm so so-" She began saying, her eyebrows furrowed in a sympathetic way.
"Shh." I cut her off. "I've had enough sympathy to last a lifetime."

To my surprise she just started giggling and I couldn't help join in. "You're the only person I know to reject a Miller hug." She said.

"Well if I knew there'd be a hug involved..." I said, winking causing her to laugh even more. Was this flirting?

Suddenly a crowd burst through the doors making a racket and they were heading towards us. Surprise surprise.

Courtney jolted her attention over to Ian swaying over to us, pulling a funny face which I couldn't help but laugh at. "We just got the most genius idea!" He said, pulling a chair up to our table and sitting on it back to front. I raised my eyebrows.

Everyone followed him in grabbing chairs, including Anthony, who even smiled at me. It was a shy, forced smile. But it was something.

"And that is.." I egged him on.
"A road trip!" He cheered and everyone else enthusiastically smiled.

"What?" I questioned. Had they even thought this through.

"We've got enough cars; Joven, Anthony and I can all drive. It's only a few day thing don't look so worried." He said nudging me with his elbow. It was different from the way Courtney nudged me for confidence, this was a... persuasion nudge.

I sighed, "what's the plan?"

He smiled.

"Thanks for agreeing, mom." Keith shouted from the back. I sent him my middle finger. It's not my fault they always come to me for approval of their stupid ideas. How do they always find me.

Joven pulled a map out from his backpack.
"Of course." I laughed at him. And it was his turn to give me the finger.

"Okay, so, we leave San Clementine some time in the morning and about an hour or so later; we'll be in LA! We can spend the next two days in Shayne's aunt's villa (she's in New York right now) and then we set off one morning for a four hour drive to Vegas baby." He whooped.

Ian carried on the rest, "I have to fill in for my cousin at his job, so we'll have some extra cash and because he works at a hotel I managed to swing us a few rooms for two nights. Then the next morning we have a six hour journey back to San Clems."

"Wow, you really did think this through." I laughed and sighed at once.

Ian nodded, "So... whatcha say?"

I felt everyone staring at me, waiting. I looked down at shook my head whilst laughing. "I'll have to ask my mom first..."

And with that everyone cheered, so loud we got kicked out of McDonalds.
