A Normal Night

I'd say I'm the typical, all-american high school student. I played football, got good grades and had a lot of friends. Being the quarterback I was pretty popular, especially with the ladies. Not to be a narcissistic asshole or anything but all of the girls wanted me and all of the guys wanted to be me. I swear the only two people who were an exception to that were my two best friends Stewart and Olivia. We have been friends since middle school and plan to stay that way for all of our lives.

"Hey mom, I'm home!" I yell, I didn't hear anything . "Mom!" I yell up the stairs, my house isn't that big so she would've heard me. I just settled on the idea that she wasn't home, I was relived at the thought of being alone until I heard a loud bang. I darted up the steps into my room to find Leon on the floor next to the bed. Leon is my 25 year old brother and I know what you thinking, "What the hell is a 25 year old man doing living with his mom and younger brother?". Well he has been apartment hunting since he got out of college and it obviously hasn't gone well.

"What are you doing home?" I aksed.

"So we are gonna ignore the fact that I could be injured? Ok. And I wasn't feeling well today so I took a day off." He said laughing. He got up as if nothing happened at all. "How was school?"

"School was ok. I had a test in physics, probably aced that shit." I said as nonchalantly as possible. "How is your search for an apartment going?"

"Finally snagged one!" Leon said pulling out his laptop.

"After three years!" I said sitting next to him on the bed. When he pulled up the pictures I was shocked. It was a loft. But it was a NICE loft. It had brand new appliances and a very modern styling. It had huge floor-to-ceiling windows on one of the walls that let in a lot of natural light (my mom is an interior designer so I know these things). Bottom line it was perfect for Leon. "This is nice!" I said. " This also looks expensive."

"Don't worry it's not as expensive as it looks, and with my recent raise I can afford it, plus its has a guest room for whenever you wanna come over, just call first." He said with a massive grin on his face. I shouldn't have doubted him since he was in fact a lawyer. A good lawyer too. I swear even if his client was guilty and all evidence pointed to him Leon would still win the case.

"Congratulations Leon!  Speaking of that raise, can I borrow $1000?" I said jokingly

"In your dreams slick!" He got up from the bed. "Can't blame a guy for trying." I said as he walked out of the room.

{A little while later}

As I completed my homework I heard  key jingling. "Moms home!" I yell out to my brother, we've been doing that ever since we were kids. We would do the same for my father before he.......... anyway.

"Hey mom!" I said giving her a hug. She was always the best hugger. "How was your day" I said.

"It wasn't anything special just the usual day." She said taking off her coat. "How was your day?"

"Just like you same as usual. But I did have a physics test! It was a breeze."

"I would love to find out that your cocky little ass actually failed that test!" Leon say as he came down the steps.

"Watch your mouth. Even though you're grown man that doesn't that doesn't mean I can't whoop you!" mom said as she walked in the kitchen.

"Whats for dinner?" I ask.

"I am not cooking tonight so you can either eat leftovers or use YOUR money to order something." 

I look to Leon "Pizza it is!" Leon orders the pizza and I find a movie to watch.

Just a normal night for us!
