Ciaran, a teen with a potty mouth and a foul outlook on life, spends the last five minutes of Mathematics doodling and communicating with Jack and Imogen, South Park and Scooby Doo fans respectively and her only known friends in the class of ten students.
Ciaran despised her class. While she has had positive conversations with half of the class, one of the two Sean's and James in particular, it wasn't the same with the rest.
Another student, Lee, had been staring at Ciaran for almost half the class and had left the latter confused and worried.
The class ended and it was time for lunch, an hour-long break where you either bring your own edible items or pay for your own at the cafeteria which often was held up with lines. Ciaran preferred to bring her own food in as she only had fries there; a fussy eater.
Ciaran, Imogen, Jack, James, and another student, Zoe; a bubbly girl and a close friend of Imogen's; meet up at a nearby table on the second floor of the college building. They have the usual chit-chat which either involves the events of today or complaining about a student, lecturer, member of staff or anything else for that matter.
"Lee has been acting strange recently." Ciaran states, referring to the look he gave her earlier.
"He's always strange, compare him to Carver-boy." Jack laughs, Carver-boy is the nickname for the Other Sean; a classmate that almost half the class despises for the one fact that he's obsessed with carving wood, is rude towards his "friends", and relies on his opinions more than anybody else.
"No, I'm dead serious. Lee was staring at me like a fucking rapist." Ciaran replies with a look of worry on her face.
"He did the same shit to me at break, he just directed his eyes towards me as if I did something wrong." Imogen reveals, this results with worry and concern for the small group.
Ciaran slides out from her chair and strolls to the second floor's bridge which gives an almost-clear view of the other side of what is referred to as the Atrium. Looking at all the students and adults below chatting amongst each she notices Lee... staring at her again.
"He's staring at me again!" Ciaran exclaims in desperation and fear, generating more fear for her friends.
Running back to the bridge, the gang notices that Lee has vanished from the spot that Ciaran had seen him staring at her from. This prompts shudders, questions, and quick, developed chills for the small group of friends.
"We need to do something about this, if he keeps doing this shit then he's probably going to go insane." Jack stutters in understandable fear.
"He already is insane!" Imogen replies with a hint of anger and belief in her voice.
Ciaran butts in, her stomach is aching from the unconfident desperation and
"We need to get out of here, I don't really want to spend the rest of the afternoon with a staring, creepy fucking-"
The Atrium, the college, the
environment, everything, goes pitch black.
