"Hey Mr. Stars!" Kassie says through the phone.

"Ms. Jones, what can I do for ya?" I ask.

After I got her number, I think we called each other about too much this week. And that was just this week...

"Leo. Let's go get some lemonade!" She yells into her phone.

"Ok, meet you and Rena's Lemonade at three!" I say

"Ok cool! See ya bye!" She says.

It was a date. She sat on the park bench and I rested in my wheelchair. The cool evening breeze ran through her loose hair as we chatted. The air reeked of sweet strawberry as her hair floated on wind.

To my surprise, we had gotten different orders. She had gotten cherry lemon with almond swirls and I had gotten raspberry cherry with tangy orange syrup and whipped cream. It felt odd and yet so perfect, the two of us.

We talked. She told me about herself. Kassie Jones. Grew up here in the small town of New Jersey. She was considered a little skinny for her age. A smart geek and bad girl at the same time. She often got jumbled up with her thoughts and had an unrated case of depression. She didn't grow up with any parents, sticking with her Aunt June in Trenton before moving away to attend college.

Me, I listened. I listened to all her stories. We laughed and we cried. I told her about me being paralyzed and how I was always a nobody.

"You aren't a nobody Leo, you are amazing." She winked. She didn't laugh like they did, she didn't mock like they did. She was kind.

For once in a million stars, she was my light for the first time.
