Ever since I told Alfie I was pregnant, he had been so protective for me. When Marcus asked me whether I wanted to go to Nandos with Alfie, Alfie immediately said no, and said that I was on a diet.
Seriously, Alfie? Just because I am pregnant doesn't mean I can't eat Nandos!
And life went on. Alfie just keep on saying no when someone asked whether we could go out. My belly just keeps on getting bigger by the day. One day, Alfie stopped, when Joe asked whether we could eat at his house.
Alfie said it was ok. Maybe it was because Joe was my brother. Maybe he didn't trust anyone else. I really don't know. So that night, me and Alfie got into the car.
"Are you okay?" asked Alfie, squeezing my hand tightly.
"I'm fine. I will be fine when you stop squeezing my hand like mad."
We both grinned, and I kissed him on the cheek. "Are we going to tell Joe?"
"Of course, Zoe! He's your brother!"
When we finally got to Joe's house, the house was glowing with Christmas lights.
Maybe my baby will be born on Christmas, I thought. That'll be cool!
When we rang the doorbell, Joe answered. "Hey guys! You look great! Zoe, have you been putting on some extra weight?"
I exchanged a glance with Alfie. He gave me a look that said, just say what you want. I knew him to well for that. Easily.
"Yeah, been eating a lot these days," I lied, my legs wobbly.
Luckily, Joe didn't suspect anything, and smiled. He guided us into his house, where an amazing dinner awaited us.
On the table, there was pizza, which reminded me of Casper, Joe's old roommate. Casper moved out because Joe pranked Casper too much. The idea made me laugh inside, but my face didn't show any expression.
"Come on, let's eat!" Joe said, and me, Alfie, and Joe started the feast. I ate so much, I bet the baby was full too. My stomach started churning, and I felt my baby kick me. Sorry, kid.
I couldn't eat anymore. I was full, and my eyes were starting to droop. I needed to tell Joe soon, or else I'll be fast asleep.Standing up, I cleared my throat. "Joe, I need to tell you something."
"Yeah?" His face was buried in pizza, munching it down quicker than Casper.
"I'm pregnant."
Joe suddenly stopped eating, and stared at me with his intense blue eyes. "What? You're pregnant? Is this some sort of joke?"
I shook my head. "It's real. I am actually pregnant."
Joe gaped at me, his mouth agape. "What?" His face suddenly turned into a mixture of disappointment and anger. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
I hung my head. "Sorry."
But Joe was delighted. He jumped up and down, like a wild kangaroo. "That's amazing news, Zoe! I have to tell everyone! Marcus, Tanya, Jim-"
"No." I said firmly. "What if everyone in YouTube knew? What if my subscribers knew? I would be doomed. Have you realised that I hadn't been posting for the last month or so?"
Joe tilted his head. "Yes, I realised that. I was going to ask you that at the door, but... I forgot."
Alfie spoke up. "That's ok. At least now you know. Now you promise, you will never, ever tell anyone. Okay?"
Joe put his hand on his heart. "I swear that I will never tell anyone that Zoe is pregnant." He paused. "Do I tell mum and dad?"
I shook my head. "Not yet. Tell them one week before I give birth."
Joe nodded. Then he looked concerned. "Would you like to sleep at mine tonight?"
I nodded my head eagerly. "Yes please!"
But Alfie didn't look that happy about it. "Yeah, okay, just tonight?"
Joe nodded. "Yeah. You can borrow my pajamas Alfie, but Zoe, could you maybe sleep in what you're wearing tonight?"
I looked down at my dress. It was comfy, so it would do just fine. "I can."
Joe smiled. "Good! Shall we all get a good nights sleep."
Ad with that, I trudged up the stairs, and collapsed onto the bed.
