Have you ever really took in your surroundings? Just staring and seeking out every little secret that the image you're looking at has kept form the entire world? Learnt that a picture can last so much longer than a billion years of staring?
Layla has. Some people may pass her by, and think she's just like any other teenage girl, who's walls are covered in boy band posters, and her dresser is covered in lipstick every shade of red pink and even brown. But.... That's not who she was, who she is and ever will be.
Her walls are lined with photos of her friends, Harry styles, Louis Tomlinson and herself, family, monuments and selfies. She didn't wear makeup, but her dresser is indeed full of camera film and editing tools.
Layla had leukemia when she was only 5 years old. She suffered unimaginable pain and unforgettable battles. With the countless nights living in the hospital, thousands of shots and perscriptions, and even dozens of surgeries and procedures, she won her everlasting battle with the cancer at the age of 13. She got her long, curly red hair back at 15... And looked completely normal, as if nothing had ever happened. But Layla is not only a cancer surviver. She's talented. The young woman was in love, in fact very deeply in love with the idea of photography. And living in Chicago, Layla ended up with hundreds of pictures of the sky line, of the streets, graffiti and ruins.
Yet, she always felt... Incomplete. Like there were a few more things that she didn't take a photo of.
Zayn Malik. He was that kid in the corner of the room. The one you never noticed. Like a picture out of focus. He only had about 2 friends. But he was normal. There was nothing off, or different about him... We'll not though the eyes of his lads, Liam and Niall. But Zayn does have something wrong with him. He gets special treatment from the teachers by them letting him wear his headphones all class, every class. But he was never letting his secret slip out from the closed doors. He's the same age as Layla,17 and same school, but a slightly different passion.
Music. Zayn could sing. Very good. And he was proud of his voice. But he doesn't want to show this amazing talent with anyone. When his parents come up the stairs whilst singing, he jumps on his bed and grabs his book, starting on a random page. Liam and Niall have only heard their made sing a few times, without him knowing.
When the two are paired up in a film and photography class or make a homemade video about the partners relationship between one another, they were in complete and utter shock. Zayn had seen the red head in the halls of berwin highschool and streets of down town Chicago plenty. But he never made an effort to talk to her, get to know her properly.
Layla was shocked as well. She never talked to him, never met him, never seen him, and she only made eye contact once of twice before that day in class. She never really expected to get partnered with him, but she knew better than to complain to mr. Burke.
But as they start to work on there movie, they become friends... Really close friends. When Layla tells Zayn about her leukemia, he feels tempted to tell her his secret. Will he ever tell the surviver, or is he gonna keep staring at the sky lines on her walls?
