« ABEL »
"Don't bother," I muttered, leaning back in the seat.
Whoever had been trying to blow me off in the seat disappeared.
With that, I kept watching the woman who was in front of me. She moved on the pole like her damn life depended on it.
Dollar bills were shoved in her bra, under the straps, between her breasts, everywhere.
I caught sight of a few poking from the waistband of her thong.
I thought for a moment longer before calling the manager over.
"I want her," I murmured in his ear as I stood up and turned away.
He nodded and clapped me lightly across the back as I began to make my way to the VIP rooms. It was relatively quiet tonight.
I was here alone.
Not much later, she came walking in.
"Abel?" She asked.
"You know it. Every Thursday."
"Why? You're always telling me how you don't have any money," she murmured as she put herself in my lap and slowly began dancing.
"Yeah, I know. It doesn't matter. "
"I think you'll get somewhere with that music of yours."
I pushed her away gently.
"You don't have to dance tonight. I like talking to you. Like last time," I said quietly, leaning back in the soft chair.
"I always wonder how you get into the VIP when you're basically broke."
"I sell drugs to your boss," I said simply.
"Huh," she chuckled.
"Val, were you serious about my music?" I asked quietly.
"Well, yeah. It's catchy and it gives off great vibes. I think it'll take you places," she said, sounding a bit sad.
"Thanks," I murmured.
She stood up from where she'd taken a seat across the room and leaned down to kiss my forehead, then sit on the ground next to me and lean against my legs.
"You're so nice. " She said quietly.
"Hey, I have a hundred. Is that enough for whenever we get done?" I asked suddenly.
That would be all my money, but I wanted Valerie to have everything she could.
"Abel, no. Give me twenty and I'm fine. I don't care what Bry says. Twenty is more than enough."
I silently was thankful for that, even though I wanted to also give it all to her.
I pulled out a crumpled up twenty and handed it to her.
"Can I have a hug?" I asked.
"Of course," she answered instantly.
She stood and put herself in my lap, snuggling against me like a girlfriend.
"I wish I had someone to love," I said quietly against her shoulder.
"Hm?"
"Nothing," I answered back, starting to get up. "I have to go home."
She got up as well.
I started to walk towards the door, turning back to face her as I opened the door.
"Goodnight, Valerie," I said as I stepped out and closed the door.
I didn't hear her if she answered as I walked towards the exit.
Bryan, the manager, clapped me on the back again. I pushed another twenty into his hand.
"Give it to Val," I told him as I passed him, not bothering to look back.
I pushed the door open and walked out into the darkish alleyway that hid the entrance.
I couldn't remember where I parked my van.
