Hazel walked up the bold metallic doors to her school. She sighed and adjusted her backpack. She pushed open the doors and she immediately saw the bustling crowd. She cringed.
She had to push her way through the people, occasionally being elbowed or kicked. She lowered her head so she wouldn't be recognized by Jason or any of his friends, but it was too late. A foot was placed in front of her and she tripped, losing her glasses along the way.
That's when the laughing started. That hideous laugh reminded her of last year's torture. She was relived when the laughing died down and she could hear them walking away. She couldn't see a thing. Hazel got onto her knees and started searching the area around her for her glasses.
That's when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up, squinting to see if she could recognize the person. She saw a blurry hand reach out and saw her glasses. She gasped and snatched them out of his hand.
She adjusted them on her face and looked up. Standing there was a boy with sandy blonde hair and a goofy grin. He was wearing a red sweater with a gold star in the middle.
"Hi," he greeted her with a boyish smile. "-hi" she replied hesitantly. He reached out a hand, but she refused by getting up on her own. "Hey, I have a favor to ask you," he said. "I'm new here and I don't know my way around."
Hazel just stared at him and sighed. "Go find someone else to help you," she said rather rudely. She started to walk away when he said. "You owe me."
"Excuse me?" Hazel spat. He looked hurt for a split second then his goofy grin reappeared. "I found your glasses for you, don't you think you could repay me by showing me around?"
She grumbled and then sighed. "Fine." His eyes lit up. "Where's your locker?" I asked checking my watch. "We've only got five minutes until the bell rings." He froze. "U-uh... Locker? O-oh yeah, m-my locker," he said nervously.
What the heck?
"They didn't really give me my locker number," he said giving a sheepish grin. "Then why don't you go to the counsellor's offi-" "NO! I-I mean no," he said. "Can I just put my stuff in your locker for today?" She glared at him. "You owe me now," she said.
"That's alright with me." He said.
We walked down the hallway and to my locker. I opened it with my new combination and threw my backpack and books in there, grabbing a binder for the assigned class. "I'm Leo by the way," he said while putting his backpack in my locker. "Hazel," I replied.
"It's nice to meet you Hazel, I think we're going to get along fine,"
