Marinette POV
As I slowly opened my eyes, I saw it was bright outside, the midday sun shining. I looked down and smiled as I saw a sleeping chat noir sitting in a chair next to my bed, with his arms and head resting next to me. I gently stroked his head, and he groggily purred and turned his head to look at me." Princess.... I'm happy to see that smile of yours again. I thought I might have lost you." Chat looked at me with relief and joy spread all over his face, with a faint smile forming at his lips.
"W-why do you say that?." I asked, blushing with surprise and looked back at Chat, but he was looking at the floor, upset. "Chat?-"
"Princess, I could have lost you! And it's all my fault... if I had gotten there sooner..." he looked heartbroken and sad, looking at the floor cursing himself internally for not being there for her.
"Chat... " I lifted his head slowly so he could look at me, tears in his eyes. "Chaton, there was nothing you could do. You still have me though, right? You must have done something right if I'm still here."
I looked at him comfortingly, waiting for his response, and he smiled, jumping up and holding me close to him. "You're always right, princess. I still have you, and I will never loose you ever again." He sounded more confident, slowly turning back to his cheerful self. He broke the hug and looked at my arm and chest.
"I know you're right, princess, but I can't help but feel responsible. You're hurt and your parents are away. Who will take care of you?"
I looked down, and started to think. If my parents are helping uncle wang in China, I might not be able to take care of myself while they are gone for the next month. But, I still have Alya if I need help, and I can walk and use my left arm... Wait? How does he know my parents are gone in the first place? "Chat, how did you know my parents were away? I never told you."
Chat's eyes widened as he rubbed his nape sheepishly with a big smile on his face. "Oh, you know, cat's intuition...."I totally don't know why or how Chat knew that my parents were out of town, but I decided to move on. "Okay..... But anyways, I can manage by myself until my parents come home about three weeks from now. I can walk and everything, I just can't use my arm."
Chat looked at me, confused and dumbfounded. "Princess, you clearly can't take care of yourself, you can't get out of bed. And, you are too humble to ask for help." He stood up and gallantly put his left hand on his chest. "I shall take the responsibility of taking care of you for the next month." he turned around and opened the window.
"See you tomorrow, princess." He saluted me and jumped out the window, jumping from one roof to the next, until he faded into the distance. I sat there watching the cityline below me long after he had disappeared from view, thinking about how the next month would be different.
Knock knock I was awakened from my daydreams by a knock at the hospital room door. "May I come in?" A young voice came from the other side of the door.
I sat up quickly, and responded reluctantly. "Uh, Yes."
A young nurse opened the door, a tray of food in hand. "Hello. I brought your food." As she was setting down the food on the table next to me, she plainly asked, "So, I see your boyfriend left. I sure wish I had a boyfriend like that." She sighed, as if deep in thought. I looked at her in confusion.
B-Boyfriend? He is just a silly kitty who does his job to help the city's people. Besides, he likes Ladybug, not Marinette. Right? "Sorry to ask, but what do you mean a boyfriend like that? And Chat is not my boyfriend. He just helps the city's civilians in any way he can." I replied with confidence to the nurse, and she smiled at me.
"Well, it sure looked like he really liked you. He was worried about you, and asked when he could see you constantly. He even refused to leave the hospital, so we had to let him in your room because we all felt so bad for him. He stayed in your room the rest of the night and eventually passed out in the chair in your room. Poor guy." I sat there, blushing harder and harder, contently listening to her story of what happened after I passed out. She looked at me and smiled. "Looks like you like him, too."
I immediately almost shouted "What? He's just a friend!"
The nurse was taken aback, but smiled. "Whatever you say. I'll leave you to eat. If you need anything, just ask." And with that the nurse left me to eat.
I realised I was blushing about hearing how much that silly kitty cared for me. Am I falling for Chat? And is he falling for me? I sat upright in the bed, eating my breakfast thinking about how Chat acted towards Ladybug and towards Marinette. He flirted constantly with Ladybug with no prevail, but I like to think of him as my partner then. But as Marinette, we can talk about anything together: whether it be schoolwork, stresses, love interests or how our day went. I like to think of him as a very good friend, like Alya. But what was starting to become clear was that lately, while I was Ladybug, I laughed at Chat's silly puns, and called him my silly kitty. I was starting to fall for Chat.
But what about Adrien? He is sweet, kind, awesome, and focused. They are both boys that I love, but which do I love more? It would be so much easier if they were the same person. But that is completely ridiculous. They are complete opposites. But then again, how can I love two people who are complete opposites in the first place?
All this thinking was making my head hurt. I decided to look out the window in my room and try to relax, thinking only about the beautiful skyline of Paris and how good it feels to have the fresh spring air blowing in your face and filling your lungs.
Yay! Chapter 8 done! Hope you liked the story so far, this is where the marichat starts...
