*****Farkle's POV*****
"Sorry, Riley and Maya. But I promised Cass that I'd join her for lunch. Plus she got me a surprise." I state as Lucas and Zay walk up the stairs, away from the hole the seniors put us in. I quickly head after them quickly and turn to see Riley pouting after us. I walk beside the two Texas boys and smile. "Do you want to join Cass and I for lunch? We're going exploring afterwards." I ask. They nod quickly and I lead them to the cafeteria.
I step inside and look around the crowded room, instantly spotting Cass in the corner of the room, holding a large book in front of her. I quickly lead the two over to the table and plop into the chair beside her. "Hey Cass. How was your class last period?" I greet. "Ich kann jetzt nicht reden. Ich muss lernen. That translates from German to 'I can't talk right now. I have to study'." She replies, not looking up. "Why are you studying German language now? You have forever to study the class." Zay asks. "Because I have other language classes to take and then after school Feeny is helping me study and learn the complicated words. I'm taking all the senior language classes this year." Cass states, closing her book as she finishes the last page and looks at us. "What languages are you taking?" Lucas questions. "German, French, Italian and Latin for the rest of this year. Japanese, Finnish, Russian and Chinese until summer vacation next year. But then I'm doing Spanish for the whole school until the school 'year' finishes," She explains. I nod and place my hand on hers. She smiles at me and holds onto the hand. "That's quite a busy schedule. How do you manage it?" Lucas says. "Two periods of a language one Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays in that two hour slot I do Robotics." She states with a smile. "Oh. She's definitely the complete opposite of Riley." Zay laughs. Cass' face drops and she glares at him. "I should get going now. My locker is calling to me. Bye Farkle. Lucas." She says, releasing my hand and walking away quickly. I turn to Zay and sigh in annoyance. "I've told you not to compare the two of them. Riley was the centre of their parents attention so that's why Cass left for her Grandparents." I scold. Zay shrugs and leans back in his chair. "Doesn't she think she can just abandon parents and pretend that they aren't related? That's stupid." He says, rolling his eyes. I narrow my eyes and quickly stand up. "I'm not going to stick around for you to talk badly about my girlfriend. I'll see you later." I say and quickly walk away.
I spot Cassiopeia leaning her head against her locker as I walk down a few corridors. "You feeling okay, Cass?" I ask, pulling her into a hug. "I hate when people compare me against Riley. I get that we are twins, but it just brings out the worst part of my life." She whimpers. I rub her back in a soothing pattern and hum her favorite song. "Hey are you okay?" A female voice questions. I look up to see a girl with brown hair and blue eyes looking at Cass in concern. Cass looks up at her in confusion and smiles weakly. "You mean me?" Cass asks, causing the girl to nod. "I guess not. My boyfriend, Farkle," She points to me, "has this friend who compared me against my younger twin sister who got all the attention from our parents." Cass explains. "Well, I'm Chai Dawson. Freshman. I'm really sorry about his friend being a bit rude. I hope Farkle is making you feel better." The girl smiles. "He really knows how to brighten my mood in the simplest of ways. I'm Cassiopeia Matthews by the way. But you can call me Cassie." Cass giggles. Chai reaches her hand out toward Cass and smiles widely. "Friends?" She questions. "Friends." Cass laughs and shakes hands with Chai. They look at me with a questioning look and I place my hand on top of theirs. "Friends." I state.
I walk back to the hole near the end of the lunch period to see Riley and Maya sitting on a bench as Riley sing the Freshman song quietly.
"Having fun down there?" I ask. They look up in shock and signal for me to join them. I quickly run down the stairs and sit opposite them. "I thought you were spending time with Cassiopeia during lunch." Riley states. I shake my head. "I did. But then Zay upset her and I went after her after repeating my warning to him. We made a new friend with a girl who came over to check if she was okay and they went to class together." I explain. Riley nods and looks at her hands. "You should really try talking to her sometime. I'm sure she misses you." Maya tells Riley. "No she wouldn't. I'm the reason she left in the first place. Then my parents had Quinn and Bailey and got mad at her when Bailey started crying. I don't think she would want to talk to me because I'm a bad sister." Riley whimpers. Maya quickly pulls Riley close to her as the tears start falling down her face.
I walk into Cass' house to see her gathering a few books from her bag. "Mind if I sit in on your session?" I ask. The books drop to the ground and as she turns to me in shock. "Farkle. Of course you can. Just don't scare me like that." She laughs lightly and picks her books up again. I smile and walk to her side, taking the books from her. "I'll carry these for you." I say, kissing her cheek. Her cheeks flush red and she walks out the door quickly. I laugh and quickly follow after her. She leads the way into the house next door and to what looks like the living room, containing an aged man. "Cassie. I see you've brought the famous son of Minkus, Farkle, along for the lesson." Mr Feeny greets. I wave slightly and adjust Cass' books.
